Jets Make it Official, Geno to IR; Taiwan Jones Returns

With a plethora of options on offense, Geno Smith is bound to make some highlight reel throws.

By Glenn Naughton

It was just a formality, but the New York Jets have officially placed injured starting quraterback Geno Smith on season-ending injured reserve as a result of the torn ACL he suffered this Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens.

The team also confirmed the return of linebacker Taiwan Jones who spent most of last season as a member of the Jets practice squad.  Jones’ return should come as no surprise as starter Erin Henderson is expected to miss the remainder of the season for undisclosed reasons and back-up Bruce Carter left Sunday’s game with an injury as well.

First round draft pick Darron Lee was also inactive against the Ravens with a knee injury of his own.

I really liked Taiwan jones. When he hits, the last row in the stadium can hear it.

I just hope he can make progress with the rest of the required skills of an NFL inside linebacker.

the defense needs to improve dramatically .. in sick of this sh*t I've been seeing

I must have missed what happened to Erin Henderson.  I thought he was just nicked up...

Non football related no official reports out yet speculation is sadly he may be dependent on alcohol again for his sake I hope its not true.

EAST RUTHERFORD — The Jets on Saturday placed starting inside linebacker Erin Henderson on the reserve non-football injury/illness list. This works just like normal injured reserve, so Henderson's season is likely over.

The NFI list sometimes applies to players who sustain an injury away from football. But in this situation, Henderson is not injured, according to coach Todd Bowles, who spoke briefly about the situation after Sunday's win over the Ravens.

"Non-disclosed injury," Bowles said. "We'd rather keep that private right now."

When pressed, Bowles said Henderson's situation is a "non-injury." And then Bowles made himself clearer, saying, "It's not an injury."

Center Kyle Friend is also back on the practice squad.....

Stated this in other thread: With Johnson filling in adequately, Dozier can play Center, and Friend added to the PS - Mangold may be out with an injury and it may be his last year in a Jets uniform.

As much as i love Mangold it is time for us to shed ourselves of his contract and get younger on the o-line. This year we need a new center, lt and rt. Its what you get when you ignore the offense for 7 straight years in the first round.

I read the title without my reading glasses and thought it a tad harsh for the Jets to send Geno to Taiwan.

Imagine the chaos with THAT many time zone changes.

Same here. I figured they were thinking outside the box and sending him there to see if he could have an Asian Revival a la Stephon Marbury.

And Asian Revival sounds like it could be the title of a Steely Dan song. Or would that be Ajan Revival?

I hope Henderson didn't have a setback with his addiction problems. That would be a bummer.
