How was this a penalty?

If not for Miami being called for an offsetting penalty, we would have had 60 yards of personal fouls.  Sixty friggin' yards.  Couple this with Pryor's idiotic dance routine for actually making a play (what you get paid for moron) and you see that Bowles isn't coaching/leading the team worth a damn.

Taunting? More like celebrating a good play. And then that flag on Antonio Allen's offside.

The NFL ought to change its name to NPL.

Excessive celebration?

These ****tards shouldn't do anything but finish the play and get back to the huddle.  We would have no need to even question the ticky tackness of the call if they just didn't do it at all.  I can't stand any of this celebration sh*t, celebrate when you win the game.  Individual play celebrations should be totally banned, that includes any assholes doing 1st down celebrations, just get back to the damn huddle

because he pointed directly at a player you don't see on this video. Either way the guy is a ******* Idiot and TBH I'm sick and tired of watching idiot wannbe players celebrate after making a freaking tackle. Call me when this stooge makes a big play in the 4th quarter with the game on the line and then he can celebrate. This league is turning to sh*t.

No that's not why the rule in in place. Its sh*t like this after every ******* play that's running the league . I'm fine with TD celebrations but this crap after making a tackle is getting really annoying especially when you are losing.

Getting excited pumping your fist getting your teammates pumped up are all good things dancing like a ******* moron is self promoting bullsh*t in a team sport

Yeah pointing at a player isn't much of taunting when you have two players going at each other, yet only one of them get flagged.

Disagree. The D can all lineup and celebrate for 30 seconds if they choose to. Meanwhile, the offense has a play clock to worry about. Same for an offensive player getting a FD. Does it bother you when a WR catches a ball for a FD and then points to EZ and drops the ball to celebrate it?

The Landry thing was another story and he should have been flagged as well unfortunately sometimes the refs see the last punch and that's exactly what happened. If I were playing at the level of Calvin Pryor in the NFL I would be embarrassed celebrating. Maybe he should celebrate on the bench when he misses assignment after assignment in the secondary or better yet when he takes a ridiculously poor angle on a WR

yep it does and it bothered the hell out of me when Santonio Holmes did it. Its not necessary and it proves nothing. Football is turning into a joke

Yes I find it infuriating and wouldn't mind them penalizing the hell out of it till the point it stops.  Just do your damn job, celebrate on a score and the end of the game.  Otherwise get back to your huddle and understand your next assignment.

I also prefer they get on with the game too, but I the penalty flag is just plain dumb.

exactly why he should not be celebrating anything. Make a tackle your supposed to make Calvin and move back to the huddle. Make a game saving tackle something you have NEVER done and you can dance all you want on the sidelines

I can see your point here because its not like it was excessive but you just cant point at another player in front of a ref behind the LOS where everyone is looking at you . You just cant take that chance on a critical play on a drive.

FWIW I hated it when Mark Gastineau used to do it as well and he's probably the idiot who started it all. Him and before that Billy "white shoes" Johnson but Billy only did it after a return TD he didn't do it in the field of play after catching a 10 yard pass

Our entire country needs to be fired. The old man was working on a  job at Pepsi and was warned no Coke products, no bottled Dasani water, NO COCA COLA anything or you'll be escorted off the grounds! Lest we forget that it's over dye, sugar, additives and poison.

Don't forget fellas this is a league where you get penalized for taking your helmet off. The NFL is fast becoming unwatchable, between the microscopic scrutiny of every step of every play, to their not knowing WTF is a catch, to their taking all of the humanity out of the game and seemingly wanting the players to be robots, to the fact that I pay for the NFL Sunday ticket, cable TV and still have to sit through hours of $hitassed ads after every single play stoppage. I actually find myself bored to tears watching the NFL! There is no game continuity, no chance to get focused into game strategy when the flow of play is interrupted every 30 seconds by a moronic coaches challenge &/or booth review and subsequent string of endless idiotic commercials that nobody in America gives a rats a$$ about. Heaven forbid you root for a team that is in the playoffs, the nerves and anxiety sitting through what seems like hours of commercials waiting for a review to see if your teams TD is going to count, or be taken away from you, or watching the rocket scientists in stripes try to figure out what is and what is not a catch. I remember watching football in the 70's and 80's where they made calls, good or bad and the games were played and that was that.

As usual the point is missed.  It's not that they called him for the penalty, it's the inconsistent way the rule is enforced.  This bit of nonsense was a penalty?  But you can sack the QB, drop to a knee and point, while screaming.  Seems fair.  Then again we're not consistent as fans.  We scream at the refs when Decker was flagged in Bufallo because we like Decker.  We scream at the player who did less when it's Pryor because we don't like him.
