Thanks for update...

I look at this update, coupled with the cluster**** of a season we're having, and I just see players I want to see put in the starting lineup.

1) Petty - obvious reasons

2) Taiwan jones - was i the only one that absolutely loved this guys tackling ability in the preseason? I thought he was gonna get the nod after our ILBs went out.

3) Freddie bishop - how about we get to see if he can rush the passer with the big boys.

4)dexter mcdougal- im STILL not giving up hope on him.

5) Powell - I like forte, but I'd REALLY like to see what Powell can do with more carries. I think he's highly underrated.

i just want a reason to watch. Right now, I'm just thanking the good lord for The Red Zone channel.

Before the year is up, in addition to Petty, we should see more of Middleton, Taiwan Jones, McDougal, Bishop.

I unfortunately suspect that they may not play as much as they could because they are not politically favored.

I also can't imagine Taiwan Jones not being a close substitute to David Harris given cost.

The D-line and WR group looks great (don't forget that Decker is hurt, and would normally be a starter). Both groups the Jets can go into next season without any replacements and I'd be fine with it.

Forte and Powell at RB, I really have no issue with that combination. Would be nice to have a 3rd power back.

O-line looks like a solid veteran group. Obviously, we need some infusion of young talent, and they have been banged up (Clady on IR). But looking at next year, I think the O-line will be fine. I have no doubt that Macc will continue drafting at the position and surely attempt to bring in a veteran OT FA- like he did when he tried to sign Beachem this past offseason. This O-line will be shuffled around, but I'm not that worried about it, to be honest.

The LB group is in transition. I mean, you look at the 'starters'- Harris (a great veteran player at the end of his career), Lee (unproven rookie with Pro Bowl potential), Jenkins (unproven rookie but solid starter potential), Mauldin (showed promise as a rookie, struggled in his 2nd year). So its a group of young guys that will certainly take over in the next couple of years with some vets that are heading towards the ends of their careers.

The secondary really has disappointed. I can no longer look at the secondary and say it looks good on paper. They might as well blow it up (although I know that probably will not happen). Burris is the only guy that has shown some very nice promise and a guy they need to hold on to and continue developing.

TE: Well, there's just nothing there. There's a bunch of guys that are supposed to be good 'blockers'. And then you have ASJ who, well, I have no idea what he can do b/c he hasn't played.

QB is obviously a concern. But I like where the jets are at the QB position- all things considering. They have no commitment to Geno or Fitz after this season and they have 2 young QBs with some nice upside (potential starters), who also happen to be very cheap. This gives the Jets a ton of options going into next season.

Special teams- I have no issue with Folk and I really like Lac.

So looking at this roster overall (without looking at contracts or cap), it's obvious the Jets need to draft an OT early. It's obvious they need to draft a CB early. The secondary is a mess with a lot of under-performing players and the O-line needs more talented youth. It's obvious the Jets need a play-making TE, or really just a TE that can catch and is not a total liability in the run game.

Other than that, I like the way the roster shapes up and Macc will have a lot of options and a lot of moves he can make in 2017. And yes, I have given up on the season after the Dolphins game. So time to start Petty and Hack and give Burris more opportunities. Time to see what some of the younger players can do and I would like a high draft pick, specifically for the chance to draft a plug and play OT.
