We should've let Macc pick his own coach

In what alternate universe does a team conduct a coaching and GM search in the same year and hire the coach FIRST?

Woody Johnson thinks he is so much smarter and cuter than everyone else.  "Lets hire consultants to pick our coach"

Ya think maybe the GM that you are gonna hire should be making that decision?

Only the Jets could have an organizational structure that would allow that timeline to occur.  The fish rots from the head down and when you have an owner not including his GM in the coaching search than you reap what you sow.

What a joke of an organization......No offensive identity, no defensive identity (except for drafting d lineman every year, you can count on that), no coaching identity.......this is the lowest I've felt since forever....beacuse as a fan i have nothing to hold onto.....complete irrelevance

a couple of things here.  generally the gm picks the coach but woody didn't want that.  but what's even scarier is the fact that for quite some time the jets have paired first time head coaches with first time gms.  this is going back to parcells. herm/bradway, herm/tanny, mangini/tanny, rex/tanny, rex/idzik and now bowles/mac.

the pattern is tried and true with the Jets.

* Hire first time no-nonsense disciplinarian head coach

* Fire first time no nonsense disciplinarian  head coach

Based on what he's done with his draft picks and cap space, one can only assume he would have traded a future first to the Vikings for Norv Turner and some magic beans.

There was something fulfilling about watching the punter he drafted also implode last night, as if God said, "no, no. Take it all"

But wait, Bitonti told me that it's not Todd Bowles fault. It's the players. Because players play and coaches coach. And you can't fire someone after two years. He needs 10-12 seasons to see his vision through. Also:

Deayne Robertson is a bowling ball with butcher knives.

Calvin Pryor could be an all-time great pick.

Vladimir Ducasse can't fail because he's from Haiti.

D'brickshaw Ferguson is the GOAT at LT.
