The last thing a rebuilding team needs is a LS making more than the vet minimum. Worst thing that could happen is a young guy screws up a few snaps, gets his experience in games you don't *really* care about winning anyway. C Mart
Kimberley A. Martin @KMart_LI #Jets signed former #Texans OT Jeff Adams, who played at Columbia The Jets have signed free agent tackle Jeff Adams. Adams (6'7", 305) will be considered a fourth-year NFL player when the new league year begins, but 2017 will be his sixth season in the league and the Jets are the sixth team he's spent time with. He began his pro career as an undrafted free agent out of Columbia with Dallas, was waived by the Cowboys in late August, then signed on with the Cincinnati and Miami practice squads in 2012 and the Titans' practice squad in '13. Adams was acquired on waivers by Houston in early 2014 and finally got some playing time with the Texans — four games and two starts in 2014-15 combined. He began 2015 as the LG starter but injured his right knee and spent the rest of the season on Injured Reserve. He ended this past season on the Texans' practice squad. Although he grew up in Illinois, Adams is now back in the area where he went to college, after playing four seasons for the Ivy League's Lions. http://www.newyorkjets.com/news/article-randylangefb/Free-Agent-T-Jeff-Adams-Signs-with-Jets/209dca42-be7e-4519-9c4a-0d01d2973576?campaign=tw

Gas2No99
Jets add kicker Chandler Catanzaro Jets signed K Chandler Catanzaro, formerly of the Cardinals. Catanzaro was a restricted free agent, but the Cardinals decided not to tender him before ultimately bringing in Phil Dawson. Catanzaro is coming off a difficult 2016 and has struggled with the new extra point distance. He will likely see some competition as the Jets attempt to replace Nick Folk. Gas2No99
Jets sign DT Mike Pennel to a one-year deal Jets signed DT Mike Pennel to a one-year contract. Pennel was mostly a reserve his three years in Green Bay, though he made three starts in 2015. He was waived after closing out 2016 with a four-game substance-abuse suspension. Going on 26, Pennel is a Dontari Poe-esque 6-foot-4, 332 pounds. He's depth for a top-heavy defensive line that massively underachieved in 2016. Gas2No99
Jets give up on trade, cut Eric Decker loose Jets released WR Eric Decker. After announcing they planned to trade or release him at the end of last week, the Jets were true to their word. They saved $7.25M in cap space. The 30-year-old receiver is returning from hip and shoulder surgeries, but should have no issue finding immediate work. The Bills and Eagles are potential suitors given their pursuit of Jeremy Maclin. The move puts Quincy Enunwa in position to lead the Jets in targets and leaves rookie ArDarius Stewart with the largest and longest monetary commitment from the team at the wide receiver position. Decker, 30, averaged over 1,000 yards and ten touchdowns per season across 2012-2015 before his injury-shortened 2016. Dcat
Jets to sign RB/KR Todman https://www.sny.tv/jets/news/jets-to-sign-rbkr-todman/235992030 Jets to sign RB/KR Todman Jun 12 | 6:44PM Share: Indianapolis Colts running back Jordan Todman returns a kickoff against the Minnesota Vikings in the first quarter at U.S. Bank Stadium. (Bruce Kluckhohn/USA TODAY Sports) The New York Jets are expected to sign running back and kick returner Jordan Todman to a contract, according to ESPN's Adam Caplan. Todman, 27, recorded 59 rushing yards on nine attempts in 16 games last season for the Indianapolis Colts. As a kick returner, he totaled 16 returns for 478 yards, including a 99-yard return for a touchdown against the Green Bay Packers in Week 9. A sixth-round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft by the San Diego Chargers, Todman played 33 games with the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2012 to 2014 and played 11 games with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2015. Brian Bassett, theJetsBlog.com Facebook | Twitter | Instagram | TJB Posts Since coming out of college at Connecticut where he dominated the college ranks, Todman has struggled to find a secure and stable role with a team. Todman has the speed and burst to make him an intriguing potential special teamer and sub-package player, but his 5-foot-9, 198-pound frame makes him unable to be relied on as anything more than a specialist. Todman will have to battle rookie Elijah McGuire for what might be the third and final spot on the 53-man roster.
