Deepest positions in the draft...

Depending on what happens in FA, would it be a shock if we double dipped at CB? We have so very little at CB right now, if we don't land one of the big name guys in FA, we could look to strengthen that area in the draft. Doesn't even need to include our first rounder, could be a 2/3 or 2/4, or maybe even a later round flier.

Ya you can almost look at this as something that "worked out" for the Jets this year...

If they need to wait until the 5th round to grab a CB they'll still be able to find a capable one who can step in and play... Most of the "experts" agree that the position is that deep this year. The big names in the 1st round are the stars, but there are plenty of guys who can go out and play well every game.

This draft is deep at CB, EDGE, SAFETY, RB.

We need to come away with a good corner and edge rusher, 2 of the 4 most important positions for every team.

Since DL is the only position we are currently set at. We'd be wise to pick up a safety (preferably a FS), and a rb at some poin. We need guys who can start. Draft off of the strength of the draft, which also falls in line with our needs.

Next year QB is a strength position...Don't reach this year for QB or LT.

they have until march 10 to cut him without having to pay a roster bonus.  in spite of revis' decline, he's still only 32  and even though he would be paid 16M or so, there would be 6M in dead money if he were cut. they may also be considering moving him to safety at a reduced cost.  maybe he'll still be paid too much but he might work out. imo they should cut him, especially since he was never shy about holding out for more money.

He's already slipping to 32 in some mocks

Absolutely no reason to draft a safety at 6

It's impossible without combine numbers ...but they already have him listed as a LB. I'm not sure his paper numbers are gonna wow. He feels like a 3rd-4th rounder to me.

Just assumptions until combine/pro days though.

If the Jets add one of the top FA CBs and draft a CB anywhere in the first 3 rounds, they should be fine as far as the future and depth at the position.

Lets say they get Gilmore or T.Johnson to be the #1 CB and cut Revis. Let's say they draft a CB in the 2nd or 3rd round. They can still let Williams walk and even cut Skrine. It will leave them with a #1 and a core of promising young CBs behind him.

T.Johnson/S.Gilmore, Burris, Roberts, rookie, Marshall (returner), McDougle/Keeton/an UDFA? (those are your 6 CBs). There is uncertainty with this group, none of these guys except for T.Johnson are proven. But its a young corps that you can work with and continue developing. And it certainly can't be as bad as an overpaid, under-performing Revis and Skrine starting.

CB situation isn't as dire as it seems.  We have zero pass rush is the real problem

Yeah, Revis and Skrine sucked last year they had to cover their assignments for 10-15 seconds routinely because $90 million man Mo Wilkerson and our JAG OLB's couldn't sniff the qb

He's not going to work out at safety, because the position involves tackling. He's not taking a pay cut either. At this point, he's made his goal very clear: make as much money as possible by doing as little as possible off of past accolades, which mean nothing in the NFL.

I mean, it was a combination of both. But the secondary was CLEARLY much worse than the pass rush, IMO. QBs killed the Jets with short passes. They killed the Jets with long passes, they converted 3rd and longs consistently. Revis and Skrine were CLEARLY beat routinely. This was not something where you look at the play and you say, well you can;t expect the secondary to cover for so long. This is the kind of thing where you see your top CB give up a 10 yard cushion and still get beat deep. Where your #2 guy clearly can;t handle playing on the outside and either commits penalties or simply gets beat. The pass rush was not very good. But the secondary was absolutely awful. And it was very clear to see that Revis and Skrine were the biggest weakness. When Roberts and Burris got opportunities to play, they held their own. That just goes to show how awful both Revis and Skrine were.

This is a very decent draft for edge rushers too.

I have never seen a Draft this deep in defensive players in the 1st two rounds especially CB's and pass rushers @nflnetwork

CB is insanely deep in this draft

That's why I laugh at people who want to spend $12 mil per on AJ Bouye, we can get 2-3 good Corners just in the middle rounds

Same reason why I think we should draft hooker or Adams at 6th overall. We can get a lockdown CB in the 2nd. And with Burris coming back hopefully better this year, he should be in the mix to start as well. Burris, a rookie from this draft and hooker could be the nucleus for our future DB's. And in my dream scenario peppers falls to a late 2nd or 3rd and we use our extra pick from the Sheldon rich trade that we're gonna make to grab him to replace Pryor

Corner is deepest. Safety has nice prospects. Lately Ive seen Malik Hooker fall when we pick, Interested?

Idk about the ed reed comparisons, but he could be a bigger, more athletic version of gilchrist. Which

Honestly would rather have Adams cause he's played multiple seasons and produced at a high level in he SEC. Hooker is a one year breakout star.  But I feel like Tennessee is going to take adams right before us. Hooker can be the prototype ball hawk that we desperately need. And at 6'2 205 lbs he's only going to get bigger which will be great for us; big physical athletic safety who can make plays.

The idiots here will say move revis to FS but..revis was afraid to tackle against the browns let alone most games just looked incapable of playing physical..why should they want a Revis as safety who doesn't tackle good? Take hooker at 6th pick

I completely agree. Draft so deep with corners we can get a major playmaker in the second round. Plus Hooker has the potential to be great and the organization will be kicking themselves if Hooker is available and they pass.

Exactly and the people saying draft fournette are either 1.dont know anything about real football or 2.hypebeasts that watched fournette highlights on espn all the time...

RB isn't a position of need for us right now even though forte is done. He can be effective if given a lot less snaps and let Powell be the starter. And in today's NFL the "power RB" doesn't hold the same value so high as a 6th pick anymore.

And on top of all that it's not like fournette will be running behind the cowboys O-line. Zeke got lucky as hell being drafted by Dallas. Fournette will be worn out by his 3rd year and by the time the team is ready to actually compete. He already has durability concerns. He'll be like forte by the time he's 26-27. Pointless if we're seriously rebuilding
