FREEHOLD, N.J. -- A New Jersey man has been sentenced to five years behind bars for defrauding more than a dozen people out of $116,550 in a New York Giants seat license scam.

John Gorman admitted in May that he conned 16 victims into believing he had more than two dozen personal seat licenses at MetLife Stadium available for sale. Monmouth County prosecutors say the 49-year-old Matawan man was sentenced Friday.

Gorman shares a name with the NFL team's director of ticketing. Prosecutors say he let many victims believe he was the team official to make his scheme appear more legitimate.

Gorman was paid in full, but his victims never got their purchased seats. The scam began after the Giants' 2008 Super Bowl win and continued for several seasons.

What's the difference between buying a fake seat license that doesn't exist and a real seat license that doesn't exist?

I noticed little difference except for . . .

PreSale access to :

GnR Concert

Springstein Concert

Copa America Centenario Finals

Arg v. Brazil soccer match

DUE to being a PSL owner:

3 Free Round-trip JetBlue Airfare tix: Jamaica, Bahamas, Ft. Lauderdale (visited mom for her surgery)

FREE Ireland v. Portugal soccer tix leading up to World Cup in '14

Fridge Magnets w/Season Schedule.

In both instances, when buying real or fake, the purchaser is duped.

Only diff I can think of is buyers of the fakes can seek some restitution through the legal system but the disatisfied buyer of NFL sanctioned seat license's have no such option.

It's going to take SAR I to answer that.

Vacationing in Captiva with dozens of Patriots fans in their Super Bowl Champions hats and t-shirts is no vacation.

By request the servants set up lounges and umbrellas in front of my cabana to attempt to block the view but alas my children want to swim so I have little choice but to witness their celebratory attire. Banana daiquiri takes the edge off.

The real seat license gives me control over whether or not I go to games.  By buying my way off the waiting list I'm no longer a slave to Newsday ticket brokers or under the thumb of Giants Stadium season ticket squatters. I call the shots.

Even during down periods such as these PSL's are worth their weight in gold.
