I feel like I reached for Tim Williams and subsequently got burned when Bolles and Lamp came off the board right before my second rounder. I think I recovered alright, though. Lots of front seven help, but got snaked on a couple of corners I wanted and Wayne Gallman.

The Browns tried to traded up from #12 in the 1st round but things fell through, they then tried to traded back up into the 1st round but no one was biting on the offers.  In the end I'm pretty sarisfied with the draft and Cleveland, if they don't pull and Idzik can totally remake their team in this deep draft.  The Garrett pick was a no brainer.  I thought long and hard about taking a QB at 12 and if so which one.  Even if the guys in this draft are not highly rated I though tit was worth it to roll the dice on Trubisky,

I was super happy to get Njhoku at the start of the 2nd round.  McDowell is a bit of a risk pick but I wanted another Dlineman and he was valued a lot higher than where I was taking him.

I liked both of the secondary picks I made in the 3rd/4th round in Jourdan Lewis and Justin Evans.

The Pats didn't pick until the 3rd round but I was relatively happy with who I ended up getting.  (Though I risked a ban from the draft with my one pick for declaring them Superbowl champions)

I actually tried to think like the Pats in this draft and have a 'I don't give a **** where this guy is rated' attitude.  I reached on a guy like Switzer but thought he was an excellent fit for what they do in their long line of small slot receivers,   Garcia I liked in the 3rd round.

I had to make my normal token pick of a Canadian in the 7th round but Antony Auclair from Laval is a legit late round prospect.

as we await the final 2 picks from Denver, I just want to thank everyone for participating and really doing a great job researching.  Don't know about you guys, but going through this process makes the actual draft so much more informative and impactful for me.  So who will the 2017 "Mr. Irrelevant" be?  We'll know in two more picks.

When the draft takes place for real at the end of the month, I will map into the spreadsheet the actual pick number where players went in the draft sheet.  Allows us to see easily how much value we got relative to where NFL GMs value the player.   Also means we can compare who did the best and worst in this draft relative to actual draft position.

Thanks, @Dcat, @NYJetsVets91 for keeping things running.  After a rocky start, we really got moving to finish in two weeks.

second all of that, and I'm excited to see how things actually fall. Thanks @Lith and @Dcat you guys were awesome, glad I was able to help out here and there.

Discuss.  Be kind.

Main objections are taking Hooker that high over Offense or Edge Rusher.  OJ/Williams/Davis or Barnett would be the ideal picks imo.

I like JuJu. Solid pick. If we went offense in 1st though I'd probably look at pass rush there.

Pocic I think is a reach. But I like the player a lot. I'd like to see a TE there if we don't go OJ or a CB there, or perhaps Basham.

Anzalone I don't get at all. Injury problems, undersized edge rusher, unless you want to move him inside...I think it's a major reach. I'd grade him around a 5th rounder based on inability to stay healthy/size. When healthy though....kid is a baller. But he's always on the shelf.

Wilson is a gamble w injury and frame, he'd need to add serious muscle.  I can't imagine him staring down LeVeon Bell in the open field with dry pants...but CB should be taken higher imo. Ideally in the top 3 picks. The way our draft fell there was a huge run where guys all went very high. Credit the 2 major injuries at the position in Jones and Moreau.

Sprinkle I like, he's a very good all purpose TE. If we double dip at TE (which I hope we do at both TE and OLB due to the depth of those positions in this draft), he's a great get. But in THIS class, I'd prefer to get a dynamic playmaker. Sprinkle isn't that. More like a Jermaine Gresham type.

After that...I didn't like any of the picks for us. McNichols is ok, but he's kind of redundant with Powell imo. We need a guy to grind. He's not that guy. Plus he's a fumbler.

Sharpe....he's so unathletic and plodding. Guard "prospect" only, plus he can't get low and over-extends. UDFA I'd guess.

Aaron Penton...meh. He looked way over his head at the Senior Bowl per reports.

Cooper Rush has a weaker arm than Greg MacElroy. He might be somebody's camp arm, he'll make the defense look great in minicamps.

That said.....hindsight being 20/20 and staying with your trades....I'd have gone....

1.6) OJ Howard, TE

2.26) Ryan Anderson, OLB

3.) Antonio Garcia, LT

3.30) John Johnson, FS

3.42) Josh Reynolds, WR

3.43) Eddie Jackson, SS

4.28) Michael Roberts, TE

5.6) Trey Hendrickson, OLB / Nickel DE

7.6) DeAngelo Brown, DE

7.30) William Likely, NB/KR/PR

So I'd miss out on CB due to the run, but we have enough bandaids in place with Skrine and Claiborne. It also leaves room for Burris to step up.  And I'd pass on QB. Nobody dropped and none are worth the 6. RB can wait till '18.

I like this.  Some fair comments on the Jets' mock.  I hope others trace through the Jets picks here and tell us what they would have liked instead.   He who drafts for the Jets in our mock puts his GM neck on the hindsight chopping block when it's over.  @NYJetsVets91 is a big boy and he can take it.  Here is what I would have done, again, maintaining John's trades (with a mention of why I would not have traded at that specific spot if given the choice).

1.06:  We discussed this pick to death right here in this thread.  Tough spot for the Jets GM with no willing trade back partners.  I fear the spot will be even worse on actual draft day when one of the top DLs falls to 6, putting us in another "Leo" situation.  I would not have selected Hooker there.  I narrow it down to Corey Davis, Mike WIlliams or O.J. Howard there.  In most years I'd rather fire a bullett into my brain than draft a TE in the top 10.  But not this year.  As much as I like Davis and Williams (and I really like them both) I go Howard.  He's going to be a difference maker wherever he lands and the landscape of the NFL has changed significantly enough to a passing game with TE as an integral component, that early TE is no longer the kiss of death.  I am not a fan of selecting Trubisky there and surely NOT Watson.

2.26: I understand the reason for the trade there.  I probably would not have attempted one.  If there were no trade, I would have went with one of these three: White at CB or either TE Engram or Bolles at OT,  if the 1st round pick was defense.  White is arguably the best press cover guy in the draft, but needs to improve his tackling. I think he will be a stud in the short time for whatever team gets him.   But the pick was traded, so based on what was on the board at 2.26, I select JuJu Smith-Schuster as well.  Underrated WR compared to some of the others rated similarly.  Great pick there.  +1 for our GM.

3.06: At 3.06 I am ridding the Jets of its horrible FS situation and taking Desmond King, FS, Iowa.  And within a nanosecond of Gilchrist's injury recovery, the Jets cast him to the curb (turned out to be a lousy FA signing by Mac).  Alternatively, I would consider Witherspoon there, but since there are so many promising CBs in the middle rounds, I'd stick with King at FS there.  Alternatively, here is where I attempt  a modest trade back and would target a TE (Everett, Legget or Butt) one of the three remaining top OTs, Taylor Morton, Antonio Garcia or Roderick Johnson depending on how far back the trade takes me.

3.30: This is a problem spot for us.  No way Anzalone here or at all (I have him on my do-not-draft list.. "boar hunter II").  Since all the top OLBs are now gone, just better to admit we missed out on the position and wait a bit and take either Carol Phillips or Devonte Fields (assuming I can stomach the bad off-the-field issues) with a later pick.  I do like the twitchy Fields a lot... I like that in a pass rusher and would hope to get him in the 4th/5th.  Also, none of the 3  TEs (Everett, Butt or Leggett) who I expected at least one of to make it down to pick 94 are there, dammit.  So this spot now blows, IMO and I try to trade down from here.  If I can find a tradeback partner, I pull the trigger here on a tradeback.  Assuming no trade back possible, then I select Caroll Phillips OLB. But I beleive a tradeback would have been possible.

3.42: Although I like Sprinkle, I already picked TE in round 1, so instead, I'm taking what I think is the best remaining CB on the board in Demontae Kazee, CB.

3.43: Wayne Gallman, RB.  I have the Clemson starter ranked above Mack, Hill, Conner and McNichols.

4.28: Will Holden, OT, Vandy.  Best OT left on the board.  Future RT.

5.06: Connor Harris, ILB.  I was wowed by watching some tape of him.  Aggressive, a motor that doesn't stop, smart, and they say a true leader.  (Jets desperate for any leadership, brecause there is absolutely none at the moment.) Might be an answer for us at ILB. With his passion and smarts, he could be the field general leading the defense one day.

7.06: Nate Hairston, CB

7.30: JJ Dielman, OT/OL Primarily a RT, but has played C and can be moved around the line as needed.

My draft for Jets using the same post-trades picks:

1 6 New York Jets Dcat O.J. Howard Alabama TE
2 26 New York Jets Dcat JuJu Smith-Schuster Southern California WR     From Seattle (JN)
3 6 New York Jets Dcat Desmond King Iowa FS
3 30 New York Jets Dcat Carroll Phillips Illinois OLB     From Pittsburgh (JN)
3 42 New York Jets Dcat Demontae Kazee San Diego St. CB Comp   From Seattle (JN)
3 43 New York Jets Dcat Wayne Gallman Clemson RB Comp
4 28 New York Jets Dcat Will Holden Vanderbilt OT     From Pittsburgh (JN)
5 6 New York Jets Dcat Connor Harris Lindenwood ILB
7 6 New York Jets Dcat Nate Hairston Temple CB
7 30 New York Jets Dcat J.J. Dielman Utah OT     From Pittsburgh (JN)

After round 1, our top 3 drafters are:

New Orleans Saints (@Lil Woody) with 51 points: Christian McCaffrey +16 (Woody picked him at 24, but he went 8th) and Jarrad Davis +35, (picked him at 56, but he went 21 last night)

Detroit Lions (@King P) with 30 points.  Adoree Jackson +35 (selected at 53, but went at 18 last night) and Takk McKinley -5 (selected at 21, but went 26 last night)

Indianapolis Colts (@Integrity28) with 24 points.  Evan Engram +23 (46, went 23 last night) & Derek Barnett +1 (15th, went 14 last night).

Out of 32 picks, we had 3 in the right slot: Garrett, Fournette & as Mangold pointed out above, his pick of Taco at 28.  And while several of us had two first rounders, only @Beerfish selected 3 first rounders, for the Browns, including two who were picked by the Browns: Garrett and Njoku.  He also picked Trubisky for the Browns.

Okay.  It has been 3 seasons, so we can try to judge this draft. I didn't get a slot here then, but did a mock on the hampur with many of the same guys.  Same spreadsheet format.  I don't have time to grade everyone out, but I did mine.  I had the Seahawks.  I used the pro football reference AV.  It is far from a perfect metric to compare players, but should be solid for determining how many studs vs. scuds you drafted.

I got a total of 60 points.  Bolles got me 21 and Dietrich Wise 12 in the 7th.  The Seahawks did some moving, dropping down from 26th and got extra picks.  They got a total of 69, 21 coming from the Chris Carson pick they added in the 7th.  Ironically, the Patriots took Dietrich Wise in the 4th with a pick they got from the Seahawks.  I think I took Josh Harvey-Clemons with that pick.

@T0mShane handled the Seahawks in the JN mock and he mopped the floor with both me and John Schneider.  He totalled 82 with big hits on Kittle 24 in the 5th, Shaq Griffin 15 at 102 - the Seahawks took him at 90.  We both did well with Ogunjobi 16.  Shame took him at 100, I took him at 102, but wasted 90 on Nico Siragusa.  I still hold out hope for my 2nd rounder Kpassagnon - maybe he will light it up in the big game.  I beat both Shane and the Seahawks soundly in the first - Bolles > Tim Williams > Malik McDowell, but they both managed to trade for more picks and outclassed me overall - Shane by a wide margin.

Hell yes I’m great. Although I should have known that Tim Williams was going to be a stiff.

You made 9 picks.  The Seahawks made 11.  I made 7.   I took Bolles, Kpassagnon, Ogunjobi, Nico Siragusa, Harvey-Clemons, Treston DeCoud and Wise.

Siragusa never played.  DeCoud was a 5th of the Texans.  He played a few games for them in 2017 and a few for the Cowboys in 2018.  Harvey-Clemons plays for the Redskins, but primarily on specials.  I'd have expected him to be a boom or bust guy, but he kind of just sits on the fringes.  I knew Williams was going to be a stiff.  Other than him, you were a boss until the 6th, but you only got 7 points on your last 4 selections.

When I grade out 2019 we will see if volume is better - I traded for a boatload of 7ths.  My grades are pretty poor right now, but most of the guys are in camps and a few (Hurd, Lindstrom, Brailford) spent the year on IR.  My late fringe guys aren't registering now, but Jeff Smith, Ballentine, Okereke, and Watts are all on rosters and I'd expect the others to be in camps.
