Trade Matt Forte

Even if it's for a late round pick on draft day. Send him to a competitive team, he deserves it. Unload the contract and continue giving reps to younger players. Even if we don't draft a RB, you need to pick one up as a UDFA and start looking for some play makers at that position.

I cant imagine a very large market for a  slow plodding 32 year old RB with 50,000 miles on his odometer.  But yeah, no brainer, if you can get anything you do it.

He'll be traded or released at some point. Zero point having him on the roster plus he seems like the kind of guy that would want a chance to win in his final year or 2 in the league. With that said, you don't want to go into the draft with only 1 viable RB on your roster. It forces your hand and tips other teams off to your draft plans.

Couldnt give a crap less about sending him to a competitor, but I completely agree that we need to unload his contract.

Hey, maybe we can send Forte, his contract and a 2nd round pick over to Cleveland. lol

Wow, the hype is real with this dude.

Certainly not Marshall Faulk. You have to have a presence on passing downs to even be considered. You also need superb vision. Im hearing that this guy will probably be better suited with a team using a FB to lead him to the correct running lanes.

Dude needs to prove that he's worth to be associated with the likes of those guys. sh*t, Bo Jackson didnt even know he was human until he almost ripped his own leg off running with so much power.

lol what? Why would ANYONE trade for an over-the-hill, shot RB with a bunch of guaranteed salary? Why wouldn't they just use that pick to pick up a guy? Unless you meant we send Forte AND a pick (Osweiler type trade)?

Considering that guys like Charles, Peterson, Blount and D. Williams are still free agents that teams wouldn't even have to give up much to get, I doubt you are getting a team to trade for Forte. And releasing him saves nothing, nor does it improve the team in any way. If you could get something in return I would be all for it. I just don't see it happening.

Only reason I can figure he's still here after our fire sale is if they draft Fornette. It's a solid professional to learn from and no reason to grind him down this year with 200+ carries on a sinking ship when he's already got injury concerns coming out of LSU.

The reason Forte is still a Jet is because it saves zero money as far as cap is considered. It's all being paid no matter what.

Also, Fournette is not worth the 6th pick. No RB is. There are solid running backs that can be had that can have just as effective careers in the 3rd-5th round.

As others said there probably is not much of a market for him. It seems that we can't fins anyone better as of yet so hopefully he returns to form for a t least one year. For many years people have not valued running backs all that much. Up until the last draft when is the last time you saw a running back go near the top of the draft?

Disagree. He wasn't used as smartly as he should have been. He's one of the best receiving running backs in the NFL and we didn't throw enough to him. He's played with McCown in the past and along with Bilal is a good fit for a short passing game. Love to see a significant presence of a tight end in this offense. Just keep the D off the field take advantage of scoring opportunities etc. no reason this team can't be improved.

Sports Illustrated is still around??

Is the Curse still around too?  Another reason not to draft Fournette at 6.

If Fournette is there at 6, then that will be Macs chance for a trade-back.  There will be a team that will want to move up.  add picks.  Next  year picks would be fine.  Even preferred.
