Rich Cimini and Manish Mehta arrogantly put it upon themselves to annoint Mccown the week 1 starter.

WTF is wrong with these assholes? Why are they going out of their way to end the competition before it starts hint the competition is a farce and just announce without any clue that Mccown won nothing to see here? Not to mention how is this fair to the young QBs who  are working their but offs to read on espn that Mccown already won?

The fact of the matter is if Hackenberg shows he is ready in training camp and preseason it doesn't f***ing matter how much experience Mccown has or how he is doing. Hack starts period. Rich goes so far as to say it would take a miracle for Hack to light up the preseason. You know the same thing Bret Ratliff and Matt Simms did!!

They were also saying there was no doubt jets pick a QB in draft...(i know Cimini changed his tune and said they wont couple weeks before but by that time he was just following the crowd)......they both clueless

He's probably the odds on favorite but I think Petty is gonna start the season at QB1.

How is he the odds on favorite? You telling me if Hack is competent in training camp and preseason games they will start the 38 year old Mccown on a rebuilding team? It doesn't matter how Mccown looks. If Hack is ready he starts. The only caveat to this is Bowles is an idiot so there is that to consider.

if Hackenberg or Petty can't beat out McCown it means they suck.  But history says McCown wont last so one will be starting sometime soon into the season.

if this is the case they will probably only win 3-4 games and hopefully have the 1 or 2 pick

Bowles started a noodle arm one read QB who threw 6 INT's in one game and was statistically the NFL's worst starting qb by far over both Petty and Hack

They are both 100% correct.  Anyone that doesn't think this is the case has their head in the sand and is wishing and hoping.

Unless McClown gets injured he will start most of the games next year

F***ing Mark Sanchez and Geno Smith started their rookie seasons. You don't need to wish and hope for Hack in his second season to show something in the preseason to start him for a rebuilding team that no one expects to win anything. Mccown is for insurance in case the 2 young guys show they're not competent to be given a chance. If anything Mccown should have the least odds of the three to start.

Sanchez and Geno were both significantly better than Petty and Hack

Sanchez had literally no competition.  Geno wouldn't have, except Ryan got his starter hurt trying to win the Snoopy Bowl.

Ordinarily, I might agree, but not with their schedule this year. Three of their first five games are the easiest opponents/most winnable games of the year (on paper). After that, it gets tough to find another win. They want to see the young QBs this year, and giving one of them the opportunity to play against the weakest opponents the team will face is definitely the way to go. Do you give one of these kids their first start in week six against the Pats? Next winnable game after the opening five weeks is week nine against the Bills again, and that's just too late to start evaluating the kids.

They seem to have the mandate and blessing from the owner to proceed in full rebuild mode. No reason, under those circumstances, to wait to play the young QBs.

TLDR whine about why Mehta is giving his own opinion and not the OP's opinion.

You don;t seem to understand here like many others, this is not a matter of what the Jets SHOULD do it is a matter of what they WILL do, knowing how they operate and who is in charge.

This is more about Bowles being a clueless moron wanting a Veteran QB to save his job instead of doing what's right in the long term for the franchise.

Bowles past shows he like Parcells has no interest in a young inexperienced QB unless it becomes completely forced on you via injury.

By Cimini & MM saying McCown it looks bad for Petty & Hack so they then can continue to write negative sh*t about the Jets QB situation..Those two thrive on the negative

What owners say in May is usually a lot different then what they say in January.

In Woody's case, what he say in late December is different then what he says in January.  Ask Mangini

What "crucial advantage" does a 10-team wonderbust really have?

Answer: a lousy HC with a rookie OC

Really, if this were Belichick & McDaniels they (1) wouldn't waste time or money on McCown, and (2) would successfully develop Petty or Hackenberg

I don't give a sh*t what Woody said, the last 2 years Bowles stuck with a veteran QB who was absolutely sh*t instead of playing the younger less experienced QB, and I don't see that stubborn moron changing his stripes this year because everyone else thinks he should.

That's because Fitz was the QB on a team      that won 10 games the previous season. I think Hackenberg has an excellent chance of winning the starting job as long as he looks competent.

If he wasn't before probably enough to convince Bowles it's the right move.

One thing is certain.  They are guaranteed to lose with a stiff like McCown.  If their goal is to get the 1 or 2 pick, McCown is the way to go.  Suppose, just suppose, Hack shows he is capable of winning 4 or 5 games.  But displays no promise of bigger things?  I mean, maybe he completes a bomb or two, plays a few TO free games  and the D toughs out some wins.  Maybe even gets a turnover?  Could happen.  Then we really are f---ked.  It depends on what the long term plan is.  Now if Bowles truly thinks McCown should play because he can win games, then I am switching to rugby.

Exactly, how do people not see through these two parasites. I can see if we were in pre-season and TC but they are just throwing out sh*t to cause turmoil. They thrive on writing negativity, it's what they do. That's how they get recognition and they haven't broke a story so this is what they are throwing  out there. F*ck these two. If they are right so be it, it's just a guess since McCown is the vet.

Josh McCown says he's trying to win the Job and it becomes a rallying cry for Jets fans that would rather have needles poked into their eyes . I wonder what Petty or Hack would say if either were asked the same question ?

This.  Throw in Petty as well.  McCown starting as qb serves absolutely no purpose.  None.

I can see why you would, but why on Earth would Todd Bowles do that  ?  Why would any sane coach send a QB out who can't complete 1 single pass ?
