Augustiniak
I was there last year for the first time, nearly all the rookies and UDFA were there in addition to some jet players. This year they have list of jet players who are scheduled to attend (including robbie anderson), but it doesn't specifically say that the rookies will also be there. Is this implied, that the rookies will also be there, is that how it is every year, or was last year atypical?
munchmemory
Maybe Anderson gives a lecture/demonstration on in-cell meal preparation skills/techniques. I hear the recipes for "Chichi" and "Correctional Cake" are to die for. Correctional CakeThis seemingly sweet treat is made of Oreos, peanut butter and M&Ms. Separating the Oreos, inmates crush the cookie part and mold it with water to create the layers of cake. The Oreo’s interior is used for icing. Peanut butter creates another layer of icing, and M&Ms are used to top the whole thing off.
Lil Woody
OK I had to google that one. How is the event? I am very curious as to who is there from the fan side. Is it like a bunch of grown men superfan types in Jets Jerseys fawning over the players, or do they try to make it more corporate, looking to price out those guys with the $250 plate fee? Doesn't seem like it is high enough for that. I'm imagining all the "Ira's from Staten Island" are there inviting the players to hang out at their next birthday party, in which case, I can't imagine this event is anything other than uncomfortable for everyone involved. (And yes, I get that we, as internet posting loser superfans, are not a far cry from the "Ira's" of the world.)

I think because the rookies are brand new, they didn't have their schedules and availablity when they put together the marketing info.

Full disclosure, I only went once when I got free tickets from a sponsor. So part of the great was not paying to go lol. But there was a ton of player access. Great food. It was a good time. (This was two years ago).

My son and daughter would love to meet the players. They are not yet jaded like I am towards the modern "professional" athlete.

Lots of short lines but a ton of player interaction.

Integrity28
I hope the Taste of the Jets doesn't do desserts. I'm not sure out society can handle the choice between chocolate and vanilla cake right now.

Gas2No99
14th Taste of the Jets 'Best by Far' Randy LangeSenior Reporter, newyorkjets.com@rlangejets Jets Players, Coaches, Legends, Flight Crew & Fans Come Together in NYC to Fight Hunger One might think the 14th Taste of the Jets event held Thursday night at the Metropolitan Pavilion in New York would blend together with the previous 13. But not for cornerback Buster Skrine, who's been to several of the recent events. "It's a nice turnout. The fans seem really hyped about the draft picks and I'm having fun," Skrine said. "So, yeah, this is the best one by far." Skrine was one of more than 50 current players to attend the charity event, supported by ESPN 98.7, with all of the net proceeds benefiting the New York Jets Foundation in tackling hunger. Among his teammates were Muhammad Wilkerson, Quincy Enunwa, and seemingly the entire Jets offensive line. Kelvin Beachum ✔@KelvinBeachumJr Who wore it best? #TasteOfTheJets 8:16 PM - 18 May 2017 "Events like this are great because they bring the whole community together," said C Wes Johnson. "It gets all the Jets fans here, it's great for all the restaurants to get the exposure, and it raises money for the New York Jets Foundation. It's a good cause and a good time." "You definitely get well fed, that's for sure," said QB Bryce Petty after finishing his chicken pot pie presentation from Lavo, one of the 23 restaurant stations serving up samplings of delicious cuisine. "It's good to get around the fans. There's always a lot of excitement with Jets fans. You want to put out for them, and we really appreciate them being here." Besides the current players, members of head coach Todd Bowles coaching staff were in attendance, as were a number of Jets Legends. For the second year, former linebacker Bart Scott emceed the event, and he had a recommendation for the Jets draft class as he introduced them: "This is New York. Get comfortable with the idea of being uncomfortable." Other legends spotted in the crowd were Willie Colon, Chad Cascadden, Eric Smith, Lou Benfatti and Lou D'Agostino.(The Supermarket King?) Fans also got to watch the Jets Flight Crew perform as they strolled around the Pavilion's 30,000 square feet of polished oak floors. One new wrinkle this year was that five of the 23 restaurant stations were worked by local members of the U.S. military branches — Air Force, Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Coast Guard. (The Marines' crumb cake offering was simply stated yet outstanding.) All the military participated in the Taste of the Jets Armed Forces Cook-Off. Scott also conducted the live auction that included dinner at Rao's and Super Bowl tickets. Among the raffle prizes were JetBlue round-trip flights, a $500 Saks gift card and concert tickets. Activations at the event included Jets Experience, virtual reality, photo booth and merchandise sales.
