ESPN reshuffles "talent" - New MNF w/Rex and a chick

Here's the link to the whole article: FAKE NEWS!

Just posted the relevant MNF portion:

ESPN also announced the announcer pairings for the first Monday Night Football games of the 2017 season. The most fascinating pairing: Ex-Jets and Bills head coach Rex Ryan working with Beth Mowins, the first female to call a NFL game since 1987.

The network announced Mowins' assignment by touting its historical significance.

With this assignment, Mowins - who has signed a new multiyear extension to remain with ESPN - will become the first female announcer to call a National Football League game since 1987 and the first female broadcaster to call a nationally-televised NFL game. Gayle Sierens was the last woman to call an NFL game - the regional broadcast of a 1987 regular-season finale game on NBC.

"Beth has been an important voice in our college sports coverage and she has experience calling NFL preseason games. She deserves this opportunity," said Stephanie Druley, Senior Vice President, ESPN events and studio production. "ESPN is committed to putting talented women in high-profile positions and we look forward to Beth and Rex's call of this game on our MNF opening night."

Mowins and Ryan will call the Broncos-Chargers game in Week One.

So a professional woman — that is actually where she is because she's good at her job, not because she's purely eye candy — and a moron whose only professional achievement is climbing at the expense of others, and who "brashly" aligns himself with politicians, and other contingencies of insecure men, that are threatened and unnerved by successful women. What could possibly go wrong?

That all depends.  How are her feet?

Not a fan of Beth Mowins. Is she a professional? Technically, I guess, that doesn't mean she is any good. I've heard her do a bunch of College Football games and was not a fan.

This just fits into the ESPN narrative of being inclusive, whether the person is the most qualified or not. There is zero chance she was the best available talent. ZERO. Ask any college football fan and you won't find one that thought she was the best play by play  person for ESPN. The likes of Mark Jones/Joe Tessitore got hosed in my opinion.

Hiring Rex to work alongside doesn't exactly make these decisions look better. It's going to be fun to watch the reactions to these two in the booth.

She sucked calling college games, she will suck at this as well.

By my  recollection, she was never even given the biggest games of the day for College Football. Not sure how she goes from doing crappy college football games to ESPN's premiere play by play person. Whatever, ESPN is falling apart for a reason.

Just checked the announcing schedule for the Bowl games and these were Mowin's assignments:

Friday, December 30
Noon- Liberty Bowl: TCU vs. Georgia (ESPN) Beth Mowins, Anthony Becht, Rocky Boiman

7 PM- Holiday Bowl: Minnesota vs. Washington State (ESPN) Bob Wischusen, Brock Huard, Allison Williams
(ESPN Radio) Beth Mowins, Anthony Becht, Rocky Boiman

Meanwhile,  Bob Wischusen and Mark Jones and joe Tessitore and others were given the bigger bowl games because they were much better. This makes no sense but no one will bash them because....

Why does anyone care if one of the announcers has a vagina?

No one cares. People just care if the announcers are good or bad. Jessica Mendoza does Sunday night baseball and is great. She was great when she did the College World Series.

This is the real story here.  Do you think she already has the sexual harrassment claim written, and it just had mad-libs like blanks in it for when Rex eventually does Rex?

I like Jessica Mendoza I think she's a good announcer and I also happen to find her attractive

Suzyn Waldman; however, is awful

She is more qualified for her role, than Rex is for his.

Also, inclusivess is not a narrative. It's a company value. Should be a national value too. It doesn't automatically = more qualified folks get passed over for jobs. That argument IS on fact a narrative. But I digress...

Why does everyone consider Rex a pervert?  Oh my God the guy is attracted to his wife

First off, that doesn't make her good. Second, coaches and former players often get jobs straight out of the game. But I'll let you defend this more for no reason other than to defend the narrative. inclusiveness is BS. The best should get the job, whether they are white/black/brown/male/female/transgender. I don't care, i don't want to listen to subpar talent because ESPN is trying to meet a quota.

If she was the best, should wouldn't have been working the Liberty and Holiday bowls this past year.

How do you decide who the best is when she's been set to broadcast games that appeal to a college football audience? Since when is broadcasting about being the best rather than being the most profitable. Dan Fouts and Ian Eagle are the best team CBS has to offer but they were the 4th CBS team until last year. Why would she get the better bowl games when there are guys getting paid more than her because they are bigger names.

If she tanks after a season then complain. If at face value your complaint is about her quality remember that people complained about Cris Collinsworth and he's by far the best color man in football.

I would say it's making a foot porn video and putting it publicly on the internet.

it was a dumb decision but hardly "foot porn".  unless you consider looking at a fully clothed womans bare feet porn.

When you think about it, Rex is totally normal, sexually. People who criticize him are the real perverts

I give REX about 10 weeks until the fans demand his removal. A 250 word vocabulary will not work well here.

He proabably will be asked to resign when she files a grievance because he was sniffing her shoes during the break.

And all that stuff...  you know.
