This is the real story here.  Do you think she already has the sexual harrassment claim written, and it just had mad-libs like blanks in it for when Rex eventually does Rex?

you think rex will give her a foot massage?

Here's the link to the whole article: FAKE NEWS!

Just posted the relevant MNF portion:

ESPN also announced the announcer pairings for the first Monday Night Football games of the 2017 season. The most fascinating pairing: Ex-Jets and Bills head coach Rex Ryan working with Beth Mowins, the first female to call a NFL game since 1987.

The network announced Mowins' assignment by touting its historical significance.

With this assignment, Mowins - who has signed a new multiyear extension to remain with ESPN - will become the first female announcer to call a National Football League game since 1987 and the first female broadcaster to call a nationally-televised NFL game. Gayle Sierens was the last woman to call an NFL game - the regional broadcast of a 1987 regular-season finale game on NBC.

"Beth has been an important voice in our college sports coverage and she has experience calling NFL preseason games. She deserves this opportunity," said Stephanie Druley, Senior Vice President, ESPN events and studio production. "ESPN is committed to putting talented women in high-profile positions and we look forward to Beth and Rex's call of this game on our MNF opening night."

Mowins and Ryan will call the Broncos-Chargers game in Week One.

this has fail written all over it.  i don't think anyone watches mnf for the announcers although much like a baseball manager an decent color commentator can increase the win total a little.

does this mean gruden is taking a pay cut?  for all the bowles haters this could be the stars aligning to make gruden available for 2018.

So a professional woman — that is actually where she is because she's good at her job, not because she's purely eye candy — and a moron whose only professional achievement is climbing at the expense of others, and who "brashly" aligns himself with politicians, and other contingencies of insecure men, that are threatened and unnerved by successful women. What could possibly go wrong?

Its a wise move by ESPN. Rex Ryan appeals to the beer-chugging, 'stick to sports', middle American demographic. The lady appeals to the more 'progressive', pseudo-liberal coastal American demographic. They will complement each other like fire and ice, and cover both bases. It will be a wholesome broadcast, one befitting the social landscape of 2017.

Rex went to Trump rallies, so not sure if "stick to sports" applies to him

Why?

He will say or do something with a female ESPN co-worker that will land him hot water.

You $%)%_*, it's only one game.

Eat sh*t and bark at the moon.

Former Jets and Bills coach Rex Ryan won’t be in the NFL this year, but he won’t be unemployed.

Manish Mehta of the New York Daily Newsreports that Ryan has signed a multi-year contract to appear on Sunday NFL Countdown.

First off, that doesn't make her good. Second, coaches and former players often get jobs straight out of the game. But I'll let you defend this more for no reason other than to defend the narrative. inclusiveness is BS. The best should get the job, whether they are white/black/brown/male/female/transgender. I don't care, i don't want to listen to subpar talent because ESPN is trying to meet a quota.

If she was the best, should wouldn't have been working the Liberty and Holiday bowls this past year.

lol, making my point for me

I honestly don't mind Rex in the booth.  Yeah, he's going to be partial to some of "his guys" but I'd rather get a coach in there that actually knows what he is talking about than some guy who uses fancy words to frame a play.  That's why I like Gruden because he can see things going on in a game that someone else might now and actually relay it.  Unless I'm going blind, I don't really need play by play on ESPN, so I'd rather get some insight as to what each team might be doing or how X, Y, Z scheme is working.

I haven't heard the lady do a show so I'll refrain from commenting on her work.  Although I hope it's better than ESPN's attempt at a lady broadcaster in MLB.  She was horrible, and did stupid things like "Here's a tour of Joe Maddon's RV" during the Yankees/Cubs game, or complain about the game going into extra innings.

Rex Ryan is a coach and he has a sense of humor.  I'm looking forward to seeing how he does because I think he's actually made for TV.

Rex is far too arrogant and lacks the self-awareness to be even a decent commentator. It'll be a milieu of Shaquille O'Neal, Todd Christensen, and Rodney Harrison, but with some Oklahoma white trash sprinkled in.

Keep hearing the Madden comparison, but Madden had 1. a grasp of how an NFL offense works and 2.  actually won something so....

I would love it if they just let Shaq & Barkley do Monday nights because that would be entertainment & that's all ESPN is after at this point.

There's got to be a way to listen to the game w/o announcers & have it just be crowd noise & whatever is picked up from the field.

That's the studio show. As for him calling games, it's just the one game at this point.

it was a dumb decision but hardly "foot porn".  unless you consider looking at a fully clothed womans bare feet porn.

Look.  If you can't make fun of the fact that the former coach has a foot fetish video on the internet... if that's somehow out of bounds... then please, what the **** is the point of this message board?

Call me sexist all you want, but masculine voices simply sound better. I'd rather have someone else.

I agree with this. I wouldn't call myself sexist, I just never heard sports being called by a woman, so it wouldn't feel familiar to me, and would take some getting used to.

Rep for Todd Christensen call. My dad use to yell at the TV telling him to stfu and get over himself when I was kid. Good times!

I LOVE Shaq tho.

And they wonder why people are dumping ESPN and Disney is losing money.
