C Mart
Kimberley A. Martin @KMart_LI #Jets announce they've signed DB Corey White and waived/injured former #Cuse WR Brisly Estime White played in 15 games last season (four starts) for the Bills, registering two picks and four pass defenses. The 6’1”, 210-pounder was originally a fifth-round pick of the Saints in 2012. He spent three years there before splitting time in 2015 with the Cowboys and Cardinals. For his career, the Samford product has tallied 161 tackles, 22 PDs and six picks.
C Mart
White is an up-and-coming prospect out of Samford who has great size for a cornerback and could be moved back to safety at the next level given his skill set. He has been a consistent tackler and run defender. He could benefit from playing at the back of a defense and working toward the line of scrimmage to be more involved in run support than he would be from his corner position. He could struggle with the athletic demands of the cornerback position. Look for him to be taken in the late rounds as a project and special teams contributor. ANALYSIS STRENGTHS White is very strong in run support, where he takes great angles toward the ball. He uses his feet to track runners and fit on them to make plays. He approaches ball carriers like a safety would, which bodes well for a position switch. White displays good athletic ability when near a receiver with the ball is in the air, but he can struggle getting to that point. All these skills combine to make him a stronger and more intriguing safety than corner, especially given his size. WEAKNESSES White is not a great athlete for the corner position. He is a bit of an awkward runner and can struggle in transition. He stutters his feet through movements and in and out of breaks, which makes it difficult for him to cover closely in man-to-man schemes. He is a bit late in reacting to plays because of his slow footwork, and the same is true of his reactions when working in zone. http://www.nfl.com/draft/2011/profiles/corey-white?id=2532972
C Mart
sounds like a better fit than Pryor..sounds like another hybrid S/CB White is a player, no doubt -- in a 44-game collegiate career, he amassed 140 tackles, seven picks, 18 passes defended, four forced fumbles and a blocked kick. But when he does go up against Brees, we suspect it'll be a bit tougher for White than it was when he was dealing with the starting quarterbacks from Elon, Wofford and West Alabama. Last year, Brees had just 14 interceptions in 657 attempts -- a 2.1 percent interception rate that has been fairly commonplace for him through his career. If White wants one of those footballs, he's really going to have to work for it. The Saints' coaches do like what they've seen of White, though -- defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo seemed particularly impressed by White's tape. "We put a premium on corners in the package we're going to run, on arm length, height and his press ability," Spagnuolo said. "He showed that he was able to do that in this system. We have corners that have done that a lot. I think he'll fit in that way. "He played at a small school, so you'll get dinged for that a little bit, and I don't know if that's always fair. That's what our scouts dug up, a good name, a good prospect. We all looked at him and thought he was a pretty good football player." https://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/saints-rookie-cornerback-corey-white-gets-reality-check-131400382.html

Gas2No99
Rich Cimini ESPN Staff Writer Bolstering their secondary depth, the Jets have signed veteran DB Corey White, who can play safety and cornerback. He played both spots last season for the Bills -- a total of 391 snaps and two interceptions. He also played for the Cowboys, Cards and Saints, who made him a fifth-round pick in 2012. White, 27, has played in 66 games, including 24 starts. He has six career interceptions. They waived/injured rookie PR Brisly Estime. They also visited with free agent WR Kenbrell Thompkins, a former Jet and Patriot. I like this signing, a 6 year vet who has scheme versatility (ManPress under Rob Ryan & Bettcher, Zone under Spagnuolo & Marinelli), good size at 6'1", has familiarity with our division opponents, and can fill in at CB and Safety.
