Next Jay Culter? QB that climbs the charts quickly?

We had Cutler rated as a first round pick at DD.com, as of July of 2005. Up until October, Kiper and a bunch of other "pay sites" didn't even have Cutler in the top 3 rounds

Anyhow, I know it's early, but I just wanted to throw a name of a somewhat obscure quarterback that could battle Drew Stanton for the #2 QB spot behind Brady Quinn next season.

Trent Edwards, Stanford......6' 4", 220 pounder, with an excellent arm and pro-style pedigree.

Edwards big problem has been injuries. He was developing in 2004, before injuries forced him to miss 4 games.......He was having an outstanding 2005 season, and even was outplaying Quinn in the Stanford/ND game, until he got injured again.

BTY, we know he's highly recommended -- Jim Plunkett, Stanford anouncer, says he lacks nothing in terms of NFL talent. Also went on to say, if he had the talent Leinart had around him, USC would be even more scary than they were.

Faba, Edwards seems to be more of that classic Pac-10/California type QB -- in the Carson Palmer mold. He's got decent mobility, but not really a scrambler/athlete in the Cutler mode.

I think they could be similar, in the sense that they rocket up the boards.

Not suggesting he'll be as good as Palmer, but he's the tall, big-armed type that plays the pro style....Injuries will play a huge role for him, as he can't seem to shake the injury bug.

*************

Thor, things aren't looking real good for Haggans, which surprises me, because he's an elite athlete.

I knew NFL teams didn't like him as QB, but thought he'd get a closer look at WR or kick returner.

He wasn't among the over 300 invites to the Combine....nor was he one over 300 players invited to an All-Star -- bad signs?

Will have to impress at Pro Day, which is possible.

Honestly, I think the CFL may be his only option, if he wants to play QB.

Combine invites, include several QB/WR types: http://draftdaddy.com/prospects/combine.cfm

Thanks for the info. It is surprising, although I was only able to catch him in limited action. You really could tell he was an awesome athlete.

I like what I read about Jay Cutler. I've never seen him play and know he has some good numbrs but all season long I keep hearing that "he was the best player on the field today" and he was the athletic guy out there." Considering he is a big kid and plays in the SEC that is pretty impressive. When I first read those comments I just figured he was a small running QB and then I looked at his stats.

What are your thoughts on 2 other QB's that I think could be good pro's with the right QB coach. I don't think they step in right away but I like Bruce Gradkowski from Toledo and Brett Basanez out of Northwestern. Both have size and athletic ability.
