RichardSeymour
I buy that you may be getting BB in Cleveland. Highly dubious that you are getting BB circa 2000 in NE, or even Saban circa 2005. The Jets have made Mangini their guy.... there will be bumps and bruises. Be prepared to go through some growing pains. FWIW, I think he'll be a good one at some point, but I'm really sceptical of his performance last year for us as DC. He was knock 'em dead as a DBs coach for us, IMO, but last year I think part of our defensive struggles was on his shoulders. Not most, just.... I think he's being promoted before he's ready, while he's still green. But that doesn't mean things will go badly, just that expectations need to be tempered. Still, it's a better roll of the dice than many others would be. (this thread is somewhat prompted by some reading and thinking I've been doing on Mangini the last few days) Heck, best thing for you guys is if EM has a lousy first year, bad enough to get Bradway fired.... You overrate the Head Coaching position. What is the worst that could happen? Basicly all he has do is call plays on defense. I could coach the Patriots and be successful. Can he meltdown in the media? Yea, but who cares? He can't be worse then Kotite or Herm.
PatsFanTX
You overrate the Head Coaching position. I could coach the Patriots and be successful. Are you really that dumb. Look at the HC's of the remaining 4 teams in the playoffs (Shannahan, Cowher, Holgrem and Fox). But you are right, HC's are over rated. Right, is that because of all the All Pro's the Pats have on their roster? Foley, where do you come up with this stuff?
The Gun Of Bavaria
After the pasr 5 years there is no such thing as overrating the HC position. RS has it right here.
Smizzy
This is the same reservation I had with the mangini hire. I would have had a hard time hiriing him. We had to endure serious growing pains with Herm as he learned on the job. We hired mangini who is in the same spot Herm was when he started. Do Woody & Terry really think he is going to come in and have an immediate impact? I mean do they think he will have such a big impact here that his growing pains will be overlooked or just not that detrimental to the team? I like Eric Mangini, from what i know of him. If Im woody,Im not so sure I would have hired him. I would have went with someone I know could step in do the job from day 1. My guess is Woody & terry like Eric because they think they can control/manipulate him.something an experienced HC wouldn't allow them to do. A good head coach will get you maybe 2 extra wins a year. Players are much much more important than coaches.

Players are much much more important than coaches. The difference between 8-8 and 10-6 is making the playoffs. The difference between 11-5 and 13-3 is homefield advantage. I'll take 2 extra wins a year by the HC any day of the week.
GimmeShelter
The difference between 11-5 and 13-3 is homefield advantage. Actually that difference came from the loss of your Assistants,Charlie and Romeo. So did your 4-7 record against winning teams.
