hey guys,

i'm back out here in san fran. for a couple of days ( AGAIN :)) . anyway,

they're talkin' on the local radio sports show that the jets & raiders are talkin' TRADE (again).

right now; we're sittin' in the # 4 position in the 1st round.

the raiders are in the #6 spot.

the DEAL : we send j.abraham to the raiders for :

- their 1st round round pick in THIS year's draft ( #6 slot )

&

- their 2nd round pick in NEXT year's draft ( 2007 ).

so; ( if this happens ) we will have TWO 1st round picks in THIS year's draft & we'll have the raiders' 2nd round pick in NEXT year's draft.

they were sayin' the jets are looking to take :

DE Mario Williams, NC State & OT D'Brickashaw Ferguson, Virginia.

anyways, just an " fyi " .

cheers ~ ~ ~

I don't get it... why would the faders want Abe when they can probably draft Williams at #6 anyway?

Some teams just prefer the proven player over the unknown...Williams may end up being a complete bust.

Wait. So we would get their 1st and 2nd rd pick for John Abraham?

And we still keep the 4th overall pick?

I would do this deal in a heartbeat.

We could take Dbrick at 4 and (I guess) Cutler at 6. Then target 1 of the many good DE's in this draft in the 2nd rd, and move to the 3-4 defense.

This would be nice.

if it sounds too good to be true so it probably is. i think the #6 overall for abe is a steal for the jets. i wouldn't be surprised if all the jets can get is a late first/early 2nd for him. the acrimony b/w abe and the jets is not exactly a secret around the league, why would someone give up so much for him? and...this is after all TB we are talking about, he is not exactly known as a shrewd deal-maker.

Hell. I would give the raiders our own 2nd rd pick + Abraham for the 6th overall pick.

ah, and that's why, young Jets fan, you aren't ready to take Bradway's job yet. Rape the Raiders for everything you can. You've got the proven commodity. Hell, I'd hold out for a third in this year's draft too... because Al Davis would do it. A 1 and a 3 this year, and a 2 next year. Hell, Mario Williams doesn't even have to be the pick. Trade down and pick up more picks. It's a deep draft. Trade the number 4, keep the number 6, and get more first day picks.

That's what I mean Fo, Williams is being compared to Peppers. The Raiders would be nuts to give up #6 for Abe when they could draft Williams. this rumor is gotta be bogus!

How do these guys in radio still have a job? This trade makes no sense for Oakland. Anyone on the Jets would do this trade in a heartbeat.

And that's why it sounds like it could be done. Because it makes zero sense for the Raiders. Just like the Randy Moss trade... when they still had Jerry Porter and Ronald Curry. Granted, neither is as good as Randy is, but... I mean, look at how well having three "talented" WR's worked out for the Lions!

Make no mistake about it. I would never offer Abe + our 2nd for the raiders 1st rd pick until it was a few days before the draft.

Its still a better deal for the Jets. No chance in hell we get the their 1st and 2nd rd pick for John Abraham. Not a chance.

Anyone saying that is nuts. Mario Williams is a nice player, but he's one dimensional. Peppers has strength to go with his speed. No comparision. Mario Williams is a lot more like JAbe - a speed rusher that can make a serious impact on a game but is not real good against the run. He also had the luxury of playing with Lawson (Sr. Bowl DE and possible 1st rounder) and McCargo (a nice DT - first day guy). Make no mistake about Williams - he is not in the same league as Peppers.

No way Abraham is getting traded to the Raiders for #6 overall AND additional selection. What sense would that make to any team including the Raiders?

The league knows that JA has the Jets by the balls. There is no way we could afford to Franchise him again and if we do it's purely for trade bait and does anyone truly see a bidding war starting over Abraham? Not a chance, he's a fraud who shows up big in little games and vice versa.

We'll be lucky to get a late 1st rounder for that injury prone hack. Hopefully those clowns in KC want to bring him into the mix. BTW does anyone feel like Al Davis is up to some shenanigans in this scenario? Like making it known that he wants a DE to possibly intice bidders to want the #6 for MWilliams.

I would love to get the Chiefs 1st rder for Abraham (20th overall)

Because I believe in my teams head coach for once. So if he feels Abraham should be shipped out, so be it. We'll run a 3-4.

I would love to get Chad Greenway at #20.

Even better, take LenDale at #4 then snag McNeil or Jean-Gilles at #20 or Ferguson at #4 and Maroney at #20 and our offense is already improved 2 fold.

I really like Gilles, and Maroney is OK in my book over Deangelo Williams.

Crazy thought I just had.

Brick at 4. Greenway at 20. RODRIQUE WRIGHT at 36, moving him to a 3-4 defensive end.

I'm not very high on Rod Wright myself, but I think he is the PERFECT fit for Mangini.

Wright could be our Richard Seymour.

Now I'm not sure where Drob would fit in for this plan, but we could sign a true 3-4 NT in free agency, and limit Drobs playing time to just the 4-3, playing aside Rod Wright. This also would allow our 3-4 NT to get some air and stay fresh.

~ ~ ~ Arguably the best pass rusher among the pending unrestricted free agents, John Abraham of the New York Jets, almost certainly will be tagged a franchise player for the second spring in a row. It's not that the Jets want to keep Abraham, who had 10
