TomShane Posted May 19, 2005 Share Posted May 19, 2005 I was just talking to one of my classmates about a fellow grad student who just left the program and I said "That's too bad, he seemed like a nice guy" and she (the classmate who I was talking to) said "That's funny, because he thought you were a total dick." I was taken quite aback! I mean, I can be self-centered and abrasive, but I didn't realize that there was an underground movement of people that HATED me. Bugg Posted May 19, 2005 Share Posted May 19, 2005 What's really strange-the stuff that makes you despise people when you're young-high school, 20s-winds up being complete BS.In fact, more often than not, you see those people later, and you actually speak civilly and socialize-even become good friends.Isn't always the case with old girlfriends-usually. My wife and I were broken up for about a year before we started going out seriously. But things that happen professionally as you get older are the base for a much more heartfelt anger. There are people that you deal with professionally who if they eff with you, your career, your wallet,that you cannot forget or forgive. It's one thing to be a Christian, but don't ever be a doormat. Several people from college hated me (One psycho chick who was formerly a friend who stopped speaking to me after I recognized a kid from a picture in her room and said four horrible words ("Hey, you're PJ, right?"), a small clique of freshmen who lived in the hall across from mine freshman year for god knows what reason, and one or two more). I'm a pretty oblivious person with a tendency to put my foot in my mouth or say the wrong thing. People who get that are usually chill because, not to brag, I'm a really good guy when you get down to it. People who don't get that I'm occasionally an idiot or not serious.... yeah, sometimes they hate me. By the way, the Patriots have won more playoff games in the last 4 years than your team has in the entire history of the universe. Now you all hate me too.
