PFSIKH
I was watching the NFL network the other night and I caught the tailend of the rebroadcast of the Ravens/Jets game from this past season. You know the one I am talking about. Well, needless to say the 4th quarter was interesting to say the least. I know Herm is mocked for his time management skills or lack thereof. There were three instances that showed Herm to be basically a mindless puppett and it all happened in the last few minutes. First, Dick Curl told Herm the TO situation and when they were to be used. Second, Chad 'coached' him to instruct Quincy on what to do. The last thing that struck me as odd was a conversation he had with one coach and the indecivsiveness he displayed. Of course, the maddening last minute of clock killing and then having Herm become a chicken and say we can't go for it on the last play and opted for the tying field goal. In Herm's defense these were mere snippetts and could easily be taken out of context. However, given the end of the Pittsburgh game, it kind of sheds light on Herm's lack of ability. The lack of killer instinct on the last play with 8 seconds remaining and him saying "can't do it....can't do it" makes me ask...what makes you think Herm can lead this team to the Superbowl? On the plus, the upside in the loss of Hackett was only further emphasized when they showed the Ravens' booth and quite a few times correctly predicting what play would be called in those last few minutes. Kentucky Jet
and it really made me mad! HERM is clueless and I am a life-long JETS fan! I was embarassed by his wacky talk on the sidelines of the game. He was uninspiring and still most think he is a great motivator. I think he is a phony.

Green DNA
Good leaders surround themselves with smart, competent people and that's what Herm has done. He isn't the best coach in the league but he is far from the worst. That said, any more Ravens type debacles this year and he needs to go.

Savage69
In 2000 the League office was under attack from Johnny Cochran and his Henchman! In NY Groh went to his old Alma Mater and Woody bought the Team! Tuna on his way out the Door told Woody to hire a Guy he knew from his Giant Days Bradway! Now you had a Rookie Owner and a Rookie GM..Terry asked Tags for his opinion! Now remember in the Super Bowl that year Marvin Lewis and John Fox were the Hot Tickets!! Why did the Jets take a Obscure DB Coach from the Buc's?? Herm was Tags Number 1 Guy in his NFL Minority Coaching Program! Tags wanted the first Guy from that program to go to a winning Team fearing the Program would take a hit if the first Guy sucked! So he was able to convince both TB who knew Herm from KC and Woody to give Hermie a shot because he never would have been able to talk Mara into a Coach from his program and he needed a Minority HC in NY the Office of the Commissioner!! Except for YJF could any of you say Hermie was a Guy you heard of and said;Wow I hope the Jets hire this Guy he's a F-ing Genius!! I didn't think so...That being said Hermie is a Great Guy..But if he went to the Bengal's he would be running a BBQ Take out in Cal somewhere!! Actually the Bengal's wouldn't even have known who he was..Marvin Lewis is the Real Deal!! If he had Taken over the Jets we probley would have been in a Bowl..And John Fox was in the Show!! TomShane
Herm is a high-functioning retard. One wonders if he's holding the team back or getting them to over-achieve. I guess we'll never know.

Savage69
Who would you rather have Herm or Al Groh? Was Time or anything else a issue when Groh was HC?? NO!! He had Vinny as his QB after a year lay off and still went 9-7! Vinny had his worse year throwing 21 TDs and 25 picks!! We lost the last 2 games which we could have won and went either 10-6 or 11-5 in spite of Groh being a Bad Coach the Team Hated!! Hall missed 2 chippy FG's in the 10-7 Lion loss and we were stomping the Ravens until Martins fumble and Vinny's pic before the Half when we were in FG range deep in Raven Territory..Even TB admitted they rode the Team Tuna built a year too long!! Did Tuna write some Huge crazy off the wall Contracts?? Sure did and Martins was the worst and has since been declared illegal by the NFL!! Second worse was Vinny's.. Most HC's come into a situation having to find a QB RB and shore up the Defense!! Hermie had both QB's here..the RB with a 2nd rd choice(01) Jordan that he never used much and 3/4's of his D line here until fergy left this year! TB has done a decent Job but this adoration of Hermie as a Good Coach is laughable.. Now if your Talking some good down Home BBQ he be the Man!! PS in 2000 the Jets beat the Pats twice!! Kentucky Jet
SAVAGE has said it correctly. I agree with his opinion of HERM, our resident cheerleader! If he had the gumption to stand up for JORDAN against HACKETT , Lamont would still be a JET instead of a JOHN RIGGINS clone- in - waiting!
