I read today that something like 54 of their 77 games left are against sub .500 teams. They should be able to make up some ground in the standings. Even if they dont catch the sox, they could be in the wild card race.

This is their chance to get back on track, although here is their record against those teams in the 1st half:

Tampa: 1-3

Toronto: 1-3

Baltimore: 1-4*

Chicago: 4-3

*They should be 2-4 after they finish the suspended game.

8 games against Tampa in 11 days will help the cause.

Agree. Come August 10 through the 30th though is when they'll likely decide their fate as they face the Indians, Tigers , Angels and Red Sox 17 times.

Best scenario other than a Red Sox collapse would be if Detroit has come back to the Yanks a bit by that point as 7 of the games will be with them. The September schedule is relatively soft.

Why so negative? Of course the Yankees can win a game that he starts. Of course it means he'll have to injure himself before things get out of hand and perhaps somebody comes out of the 'pen and steps up.

They need to score 10 runs if they want to win tonight.

I only saw until the bottom of the 8th. What happened in the 9th? That is HUGE.

Don't call it a comeback!

You turned it off at the dead wrong time! The 9th was the most unusual inning I've seen in a while...

Phillips singles (Cairo pinch runner)

Cairo steals second (barely, on a blown hit and run)

Melky singles, Cairo thrown out at home (Melky goes to second)

Melky steals third, catching Toronto napping

Damon walks

Accardo balks in a run
