EDIT: confirmed.

EDIT:

An NFL source tells ESPN's Chris Mortensen that the league has gotten a communication from the Dade County Police Department, which says there is a warrant out for Taylor's arrest in regards to an alleged assault with a weapon. Another NFL source, involved in league security, tells Mortensen that he has been told by Dade County police that there will be an arrest warrant issued for Taylor if he does not turn himself in by 5 p.m. ET Friday. The NFL security source also said that no one was hurt in the alleged incident.

If no one was hurt he's fine. He'll do token time at worst.

Rumors are simmering VERY strongly and apparantly from some reputable messageboard sources both on the main Skins forum out there and elsewhere that Sean Taylor is wanted in connection with a shooting in Miami.... may be under arrest (one rumor says there's a warrant) or maybe as a material witness...

Might be internet rumormongering, but experienced people on several boards are giving this one some real credibility.

i just heard it on the radio - definitely true. this is on top of his DUI from last year, although i think he got off of that one.

another update: reskins are refuting the ESPN story. they say he is wanted by Miami Dade police for questioning related to a shooting of a car wednesday night. there is no arrest warrant at this time. the police say they don't know if he is a suspect or a victim of the crime.

my guess - it was his cousin (just like onterio smith's, or carmelo anthony's)

Exactly why I wanted either DJ Williams, Dunta Robinson or Jonathan Vilma last year. Taylor may have the talent but he was a world class a$$hole at Miami and that leads to being an even bigger world class a$$hole in the NFL.

Sean Taylor IS THE SHOOTER

http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/3662672

MIAMI (AP) - Miami-Dade County police were looking Friday for Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor, who they describe as a "person of interest" in an assault case.

"We need to speak to him, we don't know if he's a victim, witness or suspect," said police spokesman Mary Walters.

A bad off-season for Sean Taylor appears to have gotten a lot worse.

The assault happened Wednesday night and shots were fired, Walters said. No one was injured. Walters said she didn't have further details and police were still investigating.

Citing sources within the Miami-Dade Police Department, Fox Sports Radio's Jorge Sedano reported that Taylor fired shots at the home of people he believed had stolen an all-terrain vehicle of his.

Sedano also reported that Taylor will be charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and will turn himself in to Miami authorities Saturday morning. Sedano made the report on Fox Sports Radio's "Fox GameTime Live" with Craig Shemon and James Washington.

Taylor's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, declined comment Friday. Taylor and the Redskins didn't immediately return phone messages seeking comment.

Taylor, who wants a new contract, has been working out in Miami despite pleas from coach Joe Gibbs to join the team in voluntary workouts at their home base in suburban Washington. He signed a seven-year, $18 million deal as the No. 5 overall draft pick in the 2004 draft.

The former Miami Hurricanes standout has had a tempestuous start to his NFL career.

He has fired two agents, was fined for skipping one day of the NFL's mandatory rookie symposium and was accused of spitting on a player during a game at Cincinnati, although he was not punished because the league said there was no video evidence.

He was also charged with drunken driving in October, when he was pulled over at 2:45 a.m. after attending a birthday party for receiver Rod Gardner. Those charges were dismissed in January.

Warrant/questioing is semantics. To get a warrant, they'd have to lay out their probable cause to a judge, who would issue a warrant. Plus he'd be taken directly to court with little chance to get him to make a statement, which is what any good detective wants him to do-place himself there, say something dumb, that shores up their case. If all they say is that he's wanted for questionting they can still arrest him before he talks to them, and even if he refuses, if the local DA decides they have a good enough case to authorize the charges, he still goes to jail. Once they say there's a warrant, you can create issues regarding whether he has an attorney, in which case in most states the attorney must be present for the questioning to take place at all(and no good attorney would allow that anyway).

Expect they're going to get a warrant to search his cars and home to find that gun and match the shell casing or round, if they can.

What the eff could be so bad that this moron put his life and lucrative career in the toilet-someone dissed him? What a dope.

That was also my exact description of Kneival Winslow a couple of weeks ago.

Two guys with great talent, who did have sterling college careers, but who are just being dopes.

you read about all of this crap about the 'U' with clowns like taylor, shockey, winslow - and then the jets get vilma who is all class and a true team player.

it has nothing to do with the U and everything to do with the kind of person these guys are.

What's funny is that when Taylor was in school, he was seen as quiet, sometimes standoffish, and his biggest problem was too much free-lancing, which the DC took him to task on. His father is a police officer in Florida City.

But as soon as the recruiting of agents started, he started to lose it, and started making bad decisions at every turn.

Winslow on the other hand, also excelled on the field but was louder- he is perceived as a big mouth- and was arrogant when at school, but I have always blamed the lockeroom "soldier" tirade on the coaches, for allowing the media into a college locker right after a tough loss, and putting the kid in a bad position.

He's still a dope for riding the bike, but that may pale by comparison if Taylor is nailed for firing a gun at someone's house.

...AAAANNNNNDDDDDD HEEEEERE He Is!

Redskins' Safety Charged With Assault Sun Jun 5, 7:33 AM ET

MIAMI - Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a firearm Saturday night after turning himself in to Miami-Dade County police. According to a police statement, Taylor pointed a gun at an unidentified person Wednesday during a dispute over two all-terrain vehicles he claimed were stolen. Taylor left the scene but returned about 10 minutes later and punched one person.

Police had been looking for Taylor since Friday.

Taylor, 22, was accompanied by his attorney, Fred Moldovan, when he turned himself in. He was also charged with simple battery.

Police said the Redskins organization cooperated with them during the investigation.

"We have just been made aware of a potential situation in Miami regarding Sean Taylor," Redskins spokesman Karl Swanson said in a statement. "The representatives for Taylor are keeping us informed as to the developments. There is nothing we can add to the process at this time."

Taylor's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, did not return a phone message left by The Associated Press late Saturday.

Another man, Charles Elwood Caughman, threatened and chased another victim with a baseball bat, police said. Caughman, 19, was arrested later that day and charged with aggravated assault.

Taylor, who wants a new contract, has been working out in Miami despite pleas from Redskins coach Joe Gibbs to join the team in voluntary workouts at their home base in suburban Washington. He signed a seven-year, $18 million deal as the No. 5 overall draft pick in the 2004 draft.

espnews reports Sean Taylor has turned himself into the police

I hate being captain obvious, but unless he's found guilty (not likely I would assume), his NFL career is pretty much shot

Really? Does this mean I should drop Rae Carruth from my fantasy team?

Freddie Mitchell at least will still be in the league, Troll.

Will he now? Where has he signed, anyway?

Yeah probably... I mean, I don't see Rae Rae getting out of the box any time soon. But, that all depends on what fantasy team you've got him on. If it's the all felon's team, then he's a keeper. In one league, I've got him, Orenthal, and I just picked up Taylor. The guy I'd avoid is Jammal Lewis... his stock is dropping fast!
