TomShane
This is an extremely positive thing for the Jets organization. Tongue was absolutely awful, and his signing was a mistake to begin with. If you remember, Bradway nabbed him after Lynch told Herm to go F himself.
Barton
Gotta say, I am very surprised. Not because I think Tongue was good, no, I think he sucks. But I am surprised because it leaves our safety position with absolutely no experience right now our most experienced safety is Jon McGraw, and he's started and finished like 9 games in his career. Obviously, OBVIOUSLY, the Jets love what they're seeing from Kerry Rhodes.

Barton
If Brien had made that field goal, Tongue would not have been cut. He made 1 of the biggest plays last year during the playoffs, intercepting big bens pass and returning it for a TD. If I was Tongue, I'd fly to chicago and kick Doug Briens ass for 2 reasons 1. for missing the field goals 2. for getting tongue cut from the jets
Jetsfan80
anyone else as surprised as I am? was his $$$ outrageous or something? Dude, we've got about 12 safeties. SOMEONE had to go. My guess is, Derek Pagel is next.
Savage69
With Moss gone to Washington and Tongue cut plus Brien gone also..That's the total of 17 points we scored against the Steelers..Not to worry though! Martin will tell Hermie he needs 450 carries this coming season because he's trying to catch Smith! Curtis "Statman" Martin rules the Jets!! Well, two missed field goals and a dropped touchdown does, in fact, equal 13... but that wouldn't subtract from the grand total. That would add to it. As in 17 + 13 = 30. There for, the Jets are out 30 possible points from the game
124
Thank god. I was getting a little worried that this chump would be back again, although that INT against Pittsburgh was a pretty sweet return, anybody could've caught that ball. Rhodes / McGraw are younger and that's the direction that this team has to go in.

It would have been Andre Maddox and Rashad Washington, in all liklihood. And by the way, McGraw is now the "veteran" of the safety corps, at age 26. He is no youngster anymore. Barton
I'd really like to see andre maddox win the spot at SS. Hopefully he has a great camp, opens alot of eyes and wins the job. But hey, best man wins, and I'd love to see Kerry Rhodes start too. For all intents and purposes, Rhodes seems to fit better as a FS with good coverage skills. He'll probably be limited to special teams duties at first (again, why would we draft a special teamer in rd. 4?) As for Maddox, it seems like he's the hard-hitter that we need. We have enough cover-safeties. We need a SS who plays like a linebacker and can lay the wood.
Barton
If Kerry Rhodes can pack on some muscle and start laying the smackdown on wide recievers he'd be a perfect fit in donnie hendus interchangeable safety position. when does our SS ever go 1 on 1 in coverage?? Who knows if Donnie was protecting Tongues weakness last year, he probably was, but it's good to trio of good safeties.
The Gun Of Bavaria
McGraw will be injured and out for the season by the end of the preseason. If not, we'll get to enjoy the sight of him being out of position looking for his go-go gadget arms to break up the pass 40 yds upfield. McGraw is just as worthless as Tongue

sirlancemehlot
I couldn't stand tongue for the first half of the season. But the dude picked up steam as the games progressed. I think his main issue was stupidity. It took him a long, long time to absorb Hendu's defensive scheme. As he learned, he improved. He wasn't just a lousy player. Still, I'm not crying over this move.
