Prisco rates the quarterbacks- for discussion

Prisco ranks the NFL's top offensive players at each position.

Quarterback

Player

1. Peyton Manning, Colts How much more can he do from a statistical standpoint? Now it's time to win the ring.

2. Tom Brady, Patriots He doesn't put up big numbers, but he gets it done when it counts. The guy is a legitimate star.

3. Daunte Culpepper, Vikings If not for Manning's amazing season, we'd all be talking about what Culpepper did. Now comes the hard part: Doing it without Randy Moss.

4. Donovan McNabb, Eagles When he finally got a legitimate weapon in Terrell Owens we saw how good McNabb can be. He elevated his game last season.

5. Michael Vick, Falcons He's a magical player at times, but he has to improve his passing. When that happens, look out.

6. Brett Favre, Packers He can still make some amazing plays with his arm, but he's not the same player he was a few years back. But we're glad he's back for another season.

7. Steve McNair, Titans Injuries crippled him last season, but he decided to keep playing instead of retiring. He's lost some weight and he's healthy again. But his team is crumbling around him.

8. Trent Green, Chiefs He had another huge year in 2004 from a numbers standpoint. He knows how to move the chains.

9. Matt Hasselbeck, Seahawks He started slow in 2004, but he came on in the end. With a new, fat contract, he's the man in Seattle. With no more worries, he should play more relaxed.

10. Chad Pennington, Jets The one concern with Pennington is his rotator cuff injury. Will he get his velocity back? If not, the Jets are in trouble.

Until Manning can prove to me and win a playoff game-Brady has to be the top guy right now

Isn't it just sick reading these National Media guys that are in bed with one team.

How can Prisco have any credibility with articles such as this.

He is a moron and is stupid as they come.

Prisco not having Brady as number 1-I guess King's salary cap hit is too much for Kraft

Chad has to be healthy this year- to show he is not chronic injury prone and to show how good he really is

You CANNOT rank Manning ahead of Brady until he wins. CANNOT. It kills me, but Brady is probably the best there is right now. I STRESS RIGHT NOW!

Still, throw them all in an expansion draft, and I'm taking Culpepper. If he's gone I'll take Vick and run the option. Penny being #10 on that list just shows you how depleted the QB pool is.

EB50s list

1. Mannning

2. Brady (typo)

3. Culpepper (major dropoff after #2)

4. Pennington

5. Bulger

6. Hasselbeck

7. Favre

8. Green

9. Palmer

10. Vick

Are you smoking cookie and dough mix?

There is no way PennyBoySissy is a better QB than:

Bulger

Hasselbeck

Favre

Green

Palmer

Vick

Call me crazy but give me Big Ben over any of the others, save for Brady. 16-1 record his first (ROOKIE) year, are you kiddin'? Much like Brady, stats don't matter nearly as much as wins IMO. This guy finds a way to get it done with the best of em'.

Some may say he choked in the PO's, but those of us who follow him closely KNOW what kind of character and leadership Ben has. Time will tell of course, but ya heard it here first. Ben IS one of the premier QB's of the future. Coincedentally, Chad would be my number 3 behind Ben and Brady. =D>

Paul, Big Ben's year last season was identical to PennyBoy's first year.

We all saw which direction he headed after that.

If Roethlisberger comes back strong this year, he deserves to be elevated on the list.

I think the 1st quarter of the season is critical for him.

Trent Green has always gotten a lot of love from a lot of people. Maybe it's because I only see 2-3 Chiefs games a year at best but I just have never seen Top 10 QB play in the guy. :?

But then again, I havn't from Hasselback either.

I would have those two out, Chad 8th, maybe 7th, depends on McNair's health, and at 9/10 I would have Marc Bulger and Jake Delhomme...but that's just me. I bet the majority if not all of you will disagree.

There's something wrong with this statement. "Will he get his velocity back?" In order to get his velocity back, wouldn't he indeed had to have had some form of velocity to begin with?

My Top 10 QB's:

1 - Tom Brady

3 time Super Bowl Champion / 2 time Super Bowl MVP

2 - Peyton Manning

John Madden could do what he does with that offensive cast, although Peyton has smarts, he still hasn't been able to beat Brady

3 - Brett Favre

The old guy still has a hell of a arm and heart.

4 - Donovan McNabb

Sort of like Favre. Strong arm, not as strong of course, and for the most part has done well with no-name WR's.

5 - Daunte Culpepper

I like the guy but lets see if he can do it without Randy Moss before he gets pushed ahead of Favre and McNabb.

6 - Michael Vick

Nobody has the explosiveness and the game changing ability like this guy, which is why he edges Pennington by just a notch.

7 - Chad Pennington

The guy when he's been healthy has led to the Jets in his 2 seasons that he's been QB for more than 12 games. With Coles back and his arm from Marshall hoping to be back, watch out for a big year if he can stay healthy.

8 - Steve McNair

Co-MVP of 2003 had a huge off year last year due to missing many games due to injury and such and with the team he has around him now, it would be a miracle to see Air McNair launching deep balls in the playoffs anytime soon.

9 - Marc Bulger

Sure he has Issac Bruce and Tory Holt but the guy seems to stay healthy and has a good arm on him, only problem with him is the INT's.

10 - Jake Delhomme

Only has been the Carolina Panthers' starting QB for 2 seasons but he's shown a lot of guts and heart out there and will probably lead the team back into the playoffs this sesaon. Posted nice #'s last year with Steve Smith, his favorite target, even though Muhsin was there, just wasn't the same.

Just missed:

11 - Drew Brees

12 - Matt Hasselback

13 - Trent Green

14 - Byron Leftwich

15 - David Carr

Still something to prove:

16 - Ben Roethlisberger

17 - Carson Palmer

18 - Aaron Brooks

19 - Kyle Boller

20 - Eli Manning

Dude, Hasselbeck is overrated, Pennington is better than him. Michael Vick is a TERRIBLE QB.

Trent Green is a very good QB, but he really benefits in that system. Favre I love to watch, but he makes too many mistakes. Bulger is pretty much level with Pennington.

Palmer has never had a very good season, he's had very good games, and had very good 1/4 of a season, but he's not done anything to to warrant being better than the rest. But I think Palmer will really rise up by this time next year to a top 5 QB.

22 - Kerry Collins

23 - Jake Plummer

24 - Kurt Warner

25 - Drew Bledsoe

Jake Delhomme belongs in the top ten.

Warrior who never quits. Scared the sh*t out of the PATS in Super Bowl.

You got that right.

All the more impressive after his start in that game. He finished with 323 and that was after having like -1 yard with 4 minutes to go in the first half.

Plus, he had a great season last year after losing like all of his supporting cast except Mushin Muhammed.

He should be on the list.

Trent Green is like a poor man's Peyton Manning. Everyone always says "give Indy a good defense and Manning would lead that team to a ring for sure." Well, couldn't the same be said about Trent Green and the Chiefs? That offense has performed at a high level every year he's been there.
