The following are Scott Wright's positional rankings for the 2006 NFL Draft. Please note that where players are rated does not necessarily reflect where the players may go in the draft, but merely where he personally has them ranked. Keep in mind this is very early.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Scott Wright's Top 32 Seniors for the 2006 NFL Draft

Player Class Position School

1. D'Brickashaw Ferguson SR OT Virginia

A franchise left tackle with amazing athleticism and nimble feet.

2. Matt Leinart SR QB Southern Cal

Could have gone #1 overall in 2005 and is the frontrunner again.

3. DeAngelo Williams SR RB Memphis

May not get the attention he deserves but scouts know about him.

4. Chad Greenway SR OLB Iowa

Skills have drawn some favorable comparisons to Brian Urlacher.

5. Eric Winston SR OT Miami (FL)

Would have been the first tackle selected in '05 if not for injury.

6. Jonathan Scott SR OT Texas

A prototypical left tackle prospect who still has a lot of upside.

7. Mathias Kiwanuka SR DE Boston College

A tall, rangy sack artist with excellent athleticism and production.

8. Marcus McNeill SR OT Auburn

Massive road grader who led the way for a potent rushing attack.

9. A.J. Hawk SR OLB Ohio St.

As productive as can be and wowed scouts with his speed this spring.

10. Marcedes Lewis SR TE U.C.L.A.

Extremely athletic and has the tools to be a major offensive weapon.

11. Jimmy Williams SR CB Virginia Tech

Former safety who has an ideal combo of size, speed and athleticism.

12. Jesse Mahelona SR DT Tennessee

Had a breakout season for the Vols and is moving up draft boards.

13. Rodrique Wright SR DT Texas

Battled injuries as a junior but has the talent to rate much higher.

14. Jason Allen SR CB Tennessee

Almost left early but went back to school and is moving to corner.

15. Gabe Watson SR DT Michigan

A massive hold filler in the middle who excels at stuffing the run.

16. Derek Hagan SR WR Arizona St.

A very productive receiver with a good combination of size and speed.

17. Davin Joseph SR OG Oklahoma

Played guard last year for the Sooners and is now moving to tackle.

18. Andrew Whitworth SR OT L.S.U.

Kind of gets lost in the shuffle with so many premier OT prospects.

19. Loren Howard SR DE Northwestern

Had some trouble with injuries as a junior but looks to bounce back.

20. Max Jean-Gilles SR OG Georgia

Massive lineman who almost came out in '05 but opted to wait a year.

21. Michael Huff SR S Texas

Playmaker and ballhawk in the secondary who has a nose for the ball.

22. Abdul Hodge SR ILB Iowa

Fast, athletic and productive in the middle for the Hawkeyes defense.

23. Martin Nance SR WR Miami (OH)

Coming off a major knee injury but has the physical tools you look for.

24. Greg Eslinger SR C Minnesota

Lacks ideal size but is a great technician and is extremely smart.

25. Spencer Havner SR OLB U.C.L.A.

A productive and versatile veteran of the Pac-10 wars.

26. Jeremy Trueblood SR OT Boston College

Yet another in a long line of top Golden Eagle o-lineman.

27. Tim Day SR TE Oregon

Doesn't get a lot of hype but is the clear-cut #2 tight end right now.

28. Charlie Whitehurst SR QB Clemson

Stock could soar if he can recover from an awful junior campaign.

29. Todd Watkins SR WR B.Y.U.

Made a splash for the Cougars after transferring from the JUCO ranks.

30. Tamba Hali SR DE Penn St.

One of the best defensive lineman in the Big Ten and a guy scouts like.

31. Orien Harris SR DT Miami (FL)

Did not have the junior season most were expecting but has the tools.

32. Mike Degory SR C Florida

Experienced player who could battle to be the first center chosen.

Overall, decent job...But I like Bitonti's top 32(with my input) better

Putting Havner in their was a gusty decision....I like that (although I doubt, at this point, it happens when the juniors declare--saMe as Rudd, he'll slip into the 2nd)....

Trueblood I loved, but is he simply too tall for his own good? How often do these real tall OT's succed (he's 6'9")....at somepoint, height becomes a disadvantage in terms of leverage and awkwardness.

Tamba Hali might be overrated, he seems like "try-hard" type, 3rd rounder, more than a top notch prospect--we've looked at him real close. So far, his numbers are very weak for a star type.

Marcedes Lewis is merely a WR playing TE, doubt he goes that high, but is a 1st rounder--watch for Tim Day, he could be better (way more complete package).

Worst pick, by far, in my opinion is the QB from Clemson--we wont even rank him in our top 10 QB's after 2004....lost his starting job, almost, after throwing 7 TD's and 17 Int's...below 50% completion %....height, arm strength and being the son a former a Packers QB is fine, but can he play?

If he can't tear up (or play average) the ACC, than how does he fare in the NFL?

R44 I think you know I have interest in BC- Trueblood I will watching closely- BC has the rep as far as grooming guys that are successful is in his favor

Whitehurst had a terrible junior year as did Clemson team did-is that because of him or in spite of him is the question

I like Watson as a immovable object in the middle

Faba, I agree on Watson--although folks are starting bring up he's a bit fat and lazy.....but at that weight (well over 300), who feels spry and energetic?

Trueblood leads a flood of BC talent (by the way 2004 qb Paul Peterson is in the CFL)...Quinton Porter maybe a better QB than his predecessor.

Hard to say with Charlie the QB...The team (Clemson) was awful, but so was he...per our info, he looked OK this spring, but his backup looked better--still, he'll start for a while.

Here's a name we first elevated and other sites are following quickly: Jay Cutler, Vandy...He thought about coming out after the 2004 season and no one in the NFL complained when he considered it....Had a great season in the very tough SEC, despite having almost no talent around him.

Paul Pinegar of Fresno State is the "protype" QB, but needs to have a good season.

Reggie McNeal of Texas A&M has blinding speed and good throwing stats, but size and arm strength have to be determined.

Kellen Clemens of Oregon is another decent prospect.

Overall, after the lefty from USC, the senior QB's are a questionmark for now.

I see my constant hawking of Michigan players has finally got to Rigs, and by that has gotten to Bit too

Imagine, if you will, with Gabe Watson lining up next to D Rob. Remember, at times, Gabe was triple teamed, and still sacked the QB! He's 6'-6'2" ish and around 350. If he's rushing, you ain't goin to stop him. The defense for Michigan should be better... but Lloyd and Herman run a horrible defensive scheme. It's very easy to exploit... case in point, how Ohio State has made Michigan their whipping dog three out of the past four years, and how Michigan always loses their Bowl Game.

And, as always, you boys are on top of it, and if you need any help... if I can provide it, you've got it.

Rigs-Agree with your QB assessments. Charlie Whitehurst? He has nice speed and athletic talent, but a 1st rd NFL talent? C'mon. Cutler has a lot of guts at Vande. The kid gets smacked in the mouth and comes back on teh next play like nothing happened. He runs a hurry up well and is not afraid to fit a ball in a tight spot

Scott, Cutler will become less and less of secret every day...and he's doing it with a real low-level program.

We had him ranked among our top 5 QB's...some sites didn't even have in their top 15 to 20 QB's

Now some are following the lead...

He seriously considered coming out after last season, because Vandy lost the little NFL caliber had--Hayes, Tant, ect...

But stayed in....He could be a real good one in time:

Here's a more complete story we posted on him:

Rigs-Nice article, thanks for sharing that.

Vande's style somewhat limits him. I saw many plays where they would have him fake attacking the edge as if on an option, and then drop back to pass conventionally in teh pocket.

That is hard for a qb to do, and defenses caught onto it sure enough.

If he is in Vande, he has to have a good head on his shoulders and be tough. I liked his moxie in pressure situations and he never seemed too flustered. He was constantly in a hurry up mode, when his team was out of it.

Kudos to your team for recognizing him

Shadow, sorry I missed this earlier....Yea, Watson we have ranked high...We also have Pat Massey fairly high and some others...Jake Long is junior, or he'd be way high....Him and Joe "the freak" Thomas of Wisconsin or both amazing young players.

Shadow, thanks to Hammer we are doing shorter, more brief profiles this time around--so they are much, much easier to do....Anytime you feel like doing it, you know we use your writings all time and trust your eye

*******

Scotty thanks for the input on Vandy...we could always use more info on all the teams and players from intelligent fans.

Shorter? Meh.. I'll write books for y'all! Books! Novels!

The Big Ten has alot of talent this year. Lots of younger talent. Iowa, Michigan, Ohio State, Wisconsin... they're all going to be real good. It's going to be good on Saturdays (until I start my Photo 3 class, which goes from 8-2 on Saturdays, but that's not for another few months yet). And the comcast sports channel carries MAC games, so I can probably scout there too, a bit.
