Holy GOD that is awful. AWFUL! I swear to you, I will not allow me TV to utter one syllable that Michaels and Theismann care to blab. Easily two of the most self-important, least enjoyable voices in the history of broadcasting. I am SICK sitting here. SICK.

Monday Night Football will have a new home in 2006, but the faces on the telecast team will be familar to prime-time football.

Al Michaels, who will be in his third decade with MNF, will retain his post as play-by-play commentator when the show moves to ESPN in 2006, the network announced in a statement Tuesday.

Michaels, who will also appear on ESPN's Sunday NFL Countdown, NFL PrimeTime and SportsCenter, will be joined by analyst Joe Theisman in the booth, with Suzy Kolber and Michelle Tafoya reporting from the sidelines.

"Monday Night Football and ESPN are the two biggest game changers in our industry in the last 30 years, and we have assembled a talent and production team that will reflect that," ESPN President George Bodenheimer said in the statement. "This team is a true collaboration of ESPN and ABC Sports, and clearly demonstrates the strength and promise of what our company can deliver."

Theisman, who led the Redskins to victory as quarterback in Super Bowl XVII, has been an NFL analyst for ESPN's Sunday Night Football since 1988. Kolber as been a sideline reporter for ESPN's Sunday Night Football since 2001. Tafoya, who joined ESPN in 2000, was named the sideline reporter for ABC Sports' Monday Night Football prior to last season.

"This NFL team will be unsurpassed," said Mark Shapiro, ESPN Executive Vice President, Programming and Production. "ESPN and ABC Sports NFL coverage has won the last two Sports Emmys for live event series, and this team positions us to take game coverage to an even higher level."

In April, ESPN and the NFL reached an eight-year agreement to move the Monday night broadcasts to ESPN beginning with the 2006 season, concluding MNF's 36-year run on ABC after this upcoming season.

Are you serious? WTF is wrong with these idiots?

Joe Theisman makes my ears bleed. Id like to put him and Tim McCarver into a burlap bag and beat it into man pulp with a Easton baseball bat.

I guess ill just mute the game and listen on my SIRIUS RADIO!!!!!!!

All the more reason not to watch MNF except for when the Jets are on it.

ESPN just gets better and better, don't they?

Lead Football Voice: Sean Salisbury

Lead NBA Voice: Stephen A. Smith

Monday Night Booth: Theisman and Michaels

When do they get Bill Walton to do the NHL and Ronnie Lott to do baseball?

At this point, even though he announces mostly hockey and baseball, wouldn't mind Gary Thorne calling a football game here and there. At least the guy can call a game without sounding so much like a pompous a$$.

Add Norman Chad on World Series of Poker. F*cking intolerable.

Much like the World Series of Poker itself.

In small doses and with the right guys it could be a great thing ...but they have killed poker.

I can't even go to my regular game anymore because it's been flooded by idoit teenagers who all claim to be the best ever.

I can't do it anymore. I can't even watch it on Tv....ESPN has become intolerable.

What about Todd Christensen calling games on CBS? Joe Buck? And now David friggin' Justice on YES? Might as well throw them all into the same trash can.

Bill Walton does the main studio analysis for ABC. For hockey? They doni't have anyone like Salisbury... cause when Hull and Roenick do it, they're entertaining. Hockey players are too damn quiet.

And, this just makes me want to not watch MNF more than I already don't. Al Michaels can be funny. Basektball was a riot with him and Costas in the booth. But... Joe Theisman should be nowhere near a microphone. He's an idiot. Say what you will about Chris Berman, at least he does a great job anchoring the draft.

If wrestling wasn't so lame, I'd consider pimping that, but I don't want to put anyone else through that misery.

farging unbelievable. It boggles me how completely clueless the morons that run ESPN are. They must think that the average sports fan is dumber than Arnie Grape.

Who's Arnie Grape?

Did something eat his brother?

Hockey has one of the best, John Davidson. He did the Rangers games on MSG, not sure if he still is. He also used to do the national games on FOX.

ESPN announced Al Michaels will be joined by Joe Theissmann in the broadcast booth.

So basically, they went from one annoying old loudmouth to another.

This is disturbing.

Theismann?????

A cruel joke, right?

Who's working the sidelines?

I don't think I wanna know.

But at least there's an option of radio or Internet sound to accompany the video, right?

At least it isnt McGuire! That guy is even worse than Theisman.

I dont have a big problem with Theisman actually. But i've only listened to a few of the games he's called so I havent gotten used to his style I guess.

IMO, it would be cool if they had a former player representing both teams to join in with JUST al michaels

Ok, lets say its Jets vs Falcons MNF

Get Freeman McNeil and Jamal Anderson and have those 2 call the game with Al Michaels.

No, no, no... that's not what I meant. What I meant was that hockey players don't have anyone like Salisbury... a plain, annoying, jerk. JD knows his stuff. He does stops on Hockey Night in Canada (woo!). Hull and Roenick are the closest, cause they're the only hockey players with a personality.

I would tune in to watch a coked-out Bob Probert call games on "Hockey Night in Canada" anyday of the week.

I generally like the ESPN football coverage.

I watch Edge Matchup (now called something else) and miss Suzy.

I watch all the countdowns, or whatever they are called. I watch the one from 11-1pm, the one from 8-9 and love the Monday Night countdown, probably my favorite show of the week.

That being said, Theisman is an ass and would produce better commentary if he ate a large mexican meal and just shoved the mike up his ass.

But that is just me. :)

That is a capital idea. Adding Bill Walton, Joe "born on 3rd base and thinks he hit a triple" Buck and Steven Smith (is there another Steven with a middle initial other than A we all don't know about?)and we could have a massive party. Though I'd rather they all just lose their voices or jobs permanently.

So we get another batch of Theissmann reviewing a stat sheet 5 minutes before airtime showing that when team X runs the ball 30+ times they win, and Clueless Joe then stating that they have to run the ball 30+ times to win. This schmuck has played and been around football for 40 years and still doesn't understand that the team winning the game invariably spends the whole 2nd half running the ball to try to burn the clock. Running the football is a result of being in the lead, not the reason you're ahead. And yet he says this some 17 times a year. Also, there are no bad players in the NFL; Superlative Boy Theissmann spends all game touting every player as the best at his position. He's either full of sheet or lazy and confused.

Hmmm..Then when the Jets were 1-15 in 96 our Back

Adrian Murrell that had 301 carries for 1249 yds was

quite a accomplishment!! Lets see what the AFC

Champs RB did that year?? Why it was none other

then Curtis Martin!! He had 1152 yds on 316 carries??

That goes against the winning Team

always runs with the lead Or...Maybe Murrell

wasn't that bad a back?? :mrgreen:=D>

By the same token, teams behind alte in the game throw it. There are more 300 yard passers for lsoing teams that 100-yard rushers on winning teams. In fact, Theissmann is perpetaully shocked when a QB throws for 300 and loses.

Martin's failing last year was that in 2 playoff games he couldn't run out the clock when the Jets had a lead late in the game. If we had Emmitt Smith, John Riggins or Franco harris-all similar to Martin in numbers and legevity-doeseither get to OT?

Compiling isn't dominating.

That's True but in 96 Frank Reich was the QB and

he had 2200 yds passing..Although many think I

hate Martin my only point has always been wouldn't

he have more in the Tank come playoff time if he

didn't get EVERY Carry even when Hurt just to build

stats?? Thank God for Jordan last year for his 50

yds on 7 carries otherwise we lose the Charger game!
