Oh yeah, I agree. He just wants to pad his stats.

He doesn't really want to win.

As long as he gets to sit at the right hand of the football god when it's all over, why would he want the Lombardi Trophy?

He's selfish that way.

He's all about himself.

He doesn't care about the team, or a Championship.

Damn him!

He's all, "ME! ME! ME!"

All he wants is the HOF.

Super Bowl victories are silly.

He's laughing at us all the way to the bank.

That was pretty funny DieHard.

Come on savage, you are smarter than that.

It is yet another example of Martin padding his stats.

If he goes down and doesn't fight to break tackles he won't fumble.

And we all know that Martin is one of the best backs in NFL history when it comes to fumbles per carry.

Bro...you know the game of football. So you know that what you just posted is crap. I know you are joking. But still, you can do better.

Good one. Absolutely brilliant. You, my friend, are a comedic genius.

Some people take these Boards much to seriously!

I like to have a Good Time and bust a few chops

along the way..I don't hate Martin I think he's

a great Guy..But here's a example of why I get

on his case and Herms..In 03 through the months

of Sept,Oct and Nov Martin didn't have 1 TD and

going into Dec had just 802 yds rushing..To me

this would have been a great time to give Jordan

some starts..

The Martinette's say Hermie stayed

with Martin cause he wanted to Play to Win!! I

say if you want to play to win why not play the

Guy who was scoring?? Lamonts TD's were

the difference in 2 wins vs the Texans and Raiders!

And NO they weren't All Red Zone! But how would

it look if the Great Cumar didn't get 1000+ for

the season??So the Stat back in Dec got 125 carries

and Jordan got 1..Vive le Stat Back Vive le BBQ Man!

You just blamed Curtis Martin for the coaching's inability to put Lamont Jordan in the game in the correct situational football.

Yo Sally, straighten out your panties, they are all bunched up.

You can't put a premium on a RB who does not put the rock on the ground.

CuMar has one of the best fumble/rushing attempts ratios in the history of the NFL.

I think I'm actually giving him a compliment.

Through all of the agenda driven rhetoric that this board is populated with, I will trust the opinion of one that IS football educated:Bill Parcells.

Parcells traded for this player by giving up one thing that I think he holds dearest to his team-Draft picks. Parcells made this player the key component of one that he felt could win a championship with.

Parcells is an admirer of his work ethic.

Parcells is an admirer of his play.

Parcell could NOT give a damn about how many TDs he scores.

Parcells coul NOT give a damn about how many yards he gains.

Parcells wants players that will help his team win.

Say many things about Bill Parcells, and among those is his ability to pick talent BEFORE he has it, leaves something to be desired. BUT, his abilty to see and admire talent and the other intangibles in a player that he has in his fold, is second to no other coach that I can think of.

And that he chooses Curtis Martin and has paid the prices for Curtis Martin that he has, leaves you with no doubt what he thinks about the player.

If that is good enough for Parcells, that is good enough for me.

To Savage, it is all the same. One big conspiracy theory to keep Lamont from running the ball. It starts with Tag down to the waterboy. Everyone is trying to prevent Lamont from running the ball.

Of course, this year it will be to prevent (INSERT SECOND STRING RB HERE) from running and (INSERT SECOND STRING RB HERE) will be the Hall of Fame bench warmer.

And Martin returned that trust with 14 yds and a

Fumble in the Championship Game in Denver! Not to

mention a fumble in the first Game the following

year that cost us Vinny for the year when we were

SB Favorites!! Worth every penny?? Dam Straight! =D>

Not to mention Cumar was part of that Contract with

the Tuna that allowed a player to void his contract

after 1 year!! What a class guy to do that to the

team that drafted him and started him as a Rookie!!

That ploy has since been declared illegal by the NFL! [-X

So now CURTIS is directly responsible for teh Vinny achilles injury? Next thing I know, you will have pictures of him leaving British subs with a napsack.

Excuse a player if a team is going to offer him overwhelming money?

What woudl you do Sav, go with a team with Bill Parcells that is offering you huge money,. or stay with a team with Pete Carroll that is regressing? Which would you do?

Vinny got hurt trying to recover Martins fumble

did he not?? Hey I'm on Martins side!! Screw the

Team get yours when you can and agree to a contract

that he knew the Team couldn't match due to the "Void

after 1 year players choice clause"..The only

difference is I would know that wasn't a Class Move

especially when I was Just in the Super Bowl the

year before! And know this Scottie..If there was

anyway Cumar could have jumped to Dallas to be

with the Tuna he would have left in a NY Minute!

If he could abandon the Team that drafted him and

went to the Bowl with he could do the same to a

Team that just makes the playoffs..And Btw in 97

the Pats were 10-6 and got 2 games deep in

the Playoffs losing to Pitt 7-6! Martin was hurt

in 97 and never played in the last 3 games or the

playoffs..Which makes the Tuna's Gamble even larger

giving a huge Contract to a player coming off a

injury!!

Sav-As I have told you many times, it is ok to have an agenda. Please, do not make up statistics, or post incorrect statistics, or tell us how a player thinks to further that agenda. Furthermore do not put words in other peoples mouths. And whiule we are at it, don't put anything in your mouth either [-X

What stat did I make up?? How a player thinks??

How about what he has shown to do..Did he not

leave the Pats for a Big Contract with the Tuna?

I'm calling you out on this one Pal..Don't accuse me

of making stats up unless your there with facts to

prove me wrong!! Don't try dancing away on this one!

Scott number 1 I'm Talking rushing TD's ok??

He has 53 Td's rushing as a Jet since 98!

53 divided by 7 =7.57 If your throwing in

receving as well the total goes to 8.2 Next..

So, do receiving TDs count LESS than rushing TD's now? When did that start?

Would a RB that caught 20 TD passes be less valuable than a RB that ran for 10?

It's ok Sav. You say that you want FACTS all the time and want to jump people when they get them wrong, but you just so happened to skew a number down 10%, or so, and ironically that skew was to your side of the argument.

By the way you said he "scored" 7.5 TD's, not "ran" for 7.5 TD's.

No big deal.... Just pointing out your error

Thanks to Scottie I made a mistake and Priest

Holmes has avg 21.7 TD's a year since he's

been a Chief not 19 and LT has avg over 20 a

year also!! Which means playing only 1/2 a season

Holmes beat Cumar by 2 TD's last season!! Thanks

again Scottie!!

Sav-Your math is atrocious. Check LT again. Ypour agenda is showing :^o

BTW-How did those teams perform during teh years in comparison to teh Jets/

I thought you were ALL ABOUT the end result-meaning how the teams finished.

Now you are showing me players stats on teams that have done WORSE than the Jets during teh time period we are talking about.

You just changed your agenda again [-X Keep trying

Scottie when were we talking about what Teams did??

We were talking about what a Running Backs avg TD's

were a year!! LT was a typo..I meant 15..I'm not

used to adding rec TD's for Backs..Now I'm gonna

have to add rushing TD's to W/R's..In the Future

do me a Favor..State what the Hell your talking

about up front!! When did anyone bring up what a

Teams Win/Loss record was?? Please show me the Post

that said that?

You said "all I care about is teh Jets winning a SB", alluding you don't care what individual stats were.

NOW, you deny that????????????

So you would rather that the Jets have a back like LT or PH, and achieve LESS?

That is essentially what you are throwing out.

Backpedal, backpedal

Tell me the Truth your High aren't you??

I was comparing stats of NFL player's..No where

was anything said about Team records..Nor did you

include a post where that was asked..What I said

was..I want the Jets to have the players that can

get to the Bowl and Win and so far Martin hasn't

shown me he can do that!! Gotta go to a friends

for Dinner see you later..And in that LT/Priest

Thread it was a answer to EB's question not who

I would like on the Team! Dance Scottie Dance!

You could take Mean Gene the Dancing Machines

Job if they ever bring back the Gong Show!!

Why would you like to have LT and PH on your team, obviously, they have furthered their teams no further than CM has. Are you denying that you EVER said stats mean NOTHING, get us to the SB? Why the criteria shift?

Change the criteria all you want Sav, but it has been YOU who has done the dancing.....

Reporting inaccuracies....

Somehow insinuating that Receiving TDs by a RB are NOT as good as Running TD's (why would you try and state you were ONLY trying to talk about rushing TD's?)... Sorry.

Odd, when you misreport LT's numbers it is a "typo" , you have crucified others in getting facts wrong-I guess mistakes can only b e allowed by you, huh Sav?

Have a great dinner.

Repeat-compling is not dominating.

Martin can and will be part of a productive ensemble in a spread it around offense with Heimerdinger.

"1. To be just as strong and quick in the 4th quarter as he was in the 1st

2. To be just as strong and quick in the 2nd half of the season as he was in the 1st"

Yes, I too recall fondly those glory days in Denver in 1998 and in San Diego and Pittsburgh last year when late in the 4th quarter of playoff games where a fresh Curtis Martin ran roughshod over opposing defenses to run out the clock and secure wins for his team in the tradition of HoF backs like Smith, Riggins, and Harris.

Ooops, sorry-didn't happen.Dream over!

You only like the stats when they go your way.

Curtis Martin has proved you and every other neh-sayer wrong time and time again. You say he is too old and can't run. He rushes for the most yards. You say he can't get TDs, he pulls up 12 last year.

Nobody will claim he is the fastest, biggest, bad a$$ back on the field but he is consistantly great, durable, sure-handed, passionate and hard working. His yards come from work, not from 50 yard break aways which makes them more hard earned and better yards.

So, again, this year you can line up with all the doubters and enjoy a sideline view of one of the best running backs in the league and a living legend.

Enjoy.
