So I guess Herm can land the big FA tickets...

While Ty is definetly a name fgree agent he is one with an asterik next to his name due to his injury.

Maybe the rest of the teams courting Ty thought 23 million for a 31 yo corner coming off a broken foot was risky.

I guess not the Pats who offered him $24 million.

The $24 million contract was offered to Law BEFORE he got hurt. At that time he called it a slap in the face therefore it was off the table. But lets not let facts get in the way of a good spin.

Yeah, Herm can reel them in alright. As long as they have a career threatening injury and can still get top-dollar from the Jets, Herm is money in the bank. Word is he's going after Joe Theismann next.

Not fair!

Theisman is 100% healed.

Your front-page article is total BS. How the hell do you know what the Lions, Jags, and Chiefs thought they saw? That's total speculation on your part and you spin it to make it sound as if it's the confirmed truth, when nobody really knows what those teams thought about his workout. You also conveniently leave out the fact that the Rams made a desperate last-minute attempt to sign him without even seeing him work out. Show me a link where it was said that those teams did not like his workout and then I'll believe it.

Anyone who thinks Law came to the Jets because of Hermie is really naive. The only thing that got Law here was the money. The Jags are the only other team that offered him money, $3M per year until the rumor of a Ram offer emerged today. He's getting between $6-8M a year, is there a player who wouldn't come here for those bucks, even if Kotite was still here as HC? Did we bid against ourself again? I can't answer that.

Ty Law went to where the money was- don't be naive to think anything else was a factor-thank Woody not Herm for the signing

Exactly... well said =D>

Herm has about as much to do with this signing as any of us do. His defense? nope... it's Donnie's. Contract? Nope. That's from Bradway and the rest of the front office.

But that BBQ, post camp? That's all Herm, baby!

That's pretty weak.

I think I'll go by what Law said.

Clearly the money was, and always is, anyone's primary concern.

Curtis was a factor. Staying in the division and getting two cracks at NE was a factor. Herm, according to Law, was a factor.

I don't buy that we were the only folks willing to pay. Nor for one second.

It's about money. Tannebaum and Bradway did this, which isn't to badmouth Hermie one way or the other.

Again-to recap- a free agent who was so close to Edwards in Lynch that they watched each other's kids didn't sign here, relationship be damned. Same thing -dinero, loot, lucre,cash,...If your point is that Edwards is a dealmaker, Lynch disproves that and his presence here as to Law was a irrelevant. The Jets offered the best deal and bonus.Sure Law will say nice things about his HC-which is as it should be. Anyone who thinks a HC makes a differecne over money when it comes to FAs is wrong.

And in his 5th season the great TB co-HC/DB coach only now has a decent secondary. That's some ringing endorsement. What the eff has he done the previous 4 seasons?

You couldn't sense the laced sarcasm?

I'm told I'm an acquired taste.

So I guess the fact that Law talked a lot about his close relationship with Herm as helping him come to the Jets had nothing to do with it? Yeah we gave him money, but if he gets hurt and doesn't perform it's not going to hurt us too much. I'm sure Law and the Postons know that.

Lets make this clear if Law was so loyal and driven by Herm why did it take forever to do this deal- I repeat do not think it was not the money structure that got this deal done- I am not knocking Herm on this -just pointing out that Law made the monetary decision unless you think he is enrolling in the saint category

Yea, the Pats offered Law $24 mil PRIOR to getting a serious foot injury.

The Jets offered him the same money AFTER KNOWING of the serious foot injury.

See the difference between the Pats and Jets BZ?

Moves like that are the reason one team is a dynasty and the other team hasn't been to the Big Dance in 36 years and counting.

Yikes!

Sorry.

:oops::mrgreen:

It had a bit of sarcasm in it. It had some truth in it too. No worries.

Obviously the Jets have a great situation. They have a good defense which can only get better, with it being as young as it is. And the front office did an outstanding job. But, I don't know how much Herm had to do with the signing. Obviously he had to be there. And the guy can talk... but they lost out on Winfield and Lynch last year. I don't think everything is Herm's fault. I don't think everything is because of Herm, either. Like I've said, Herm reminds me of Lloyd Carr. And Lloyd is not a good coach. Michigan has regressed and gone down hill since he's been the coach. With the talent he pulls in, he should be winning national titles every year. Herm can talk. He's a great speaker. But, he's not football smart. He's not an X and O guy. And, I dunno if he's that great of a recruiter. Obviously, the BBQ thing was a joke. But, he doesn't run the defense and he doesn't put contracts together. You'd figure that's the two main things Ty would be looking at: the defense and the money. I just don't think Herm had as much to do with it as everyone is giving him credit for.

I don't know Faba, maybe the other 50 that were in the deal? You make it sound like there all there is to get a deal done is a handshake between a coach and a player. Have you forgotten about the 20 lawyers, managers, assistants, owners and agents?

Herm Haters can't have it both ways. Herm helped land this deal because Ty Law wanted to play for him.

If I was a player, I'd want to come here too. It's a win -win for any player in the september of his career.

This is like, the primo pre-retirement home for NFL players; you can coast through TC, take plays off et al.

And you get a nice golden $parachute$ on the way out.

Hmmm Martin and Hermie have been here for some

Time..Maybe last years addition of Coach Henderson

also helped Law with his decision??

The same Henderson that Herm got blasted for hiring? The same Henderson that Herm picked up when nobody else even wanted to interview him? The same Henderson that Herm gets no credit for hiring?

Yes I agree. Playing for Henderson had to be a factor for Law.

OK, BZ. According to you, Ty Law is a Jet today because he said "I want to play for Herman Edwards".

If another team had offered him a better contract, do you think he would have made a similar statement in reference to the HC?

You're the one constantly looking for something, anything, to validate Herm.

Not anything, but this is one of those topics the Herm Bashers want to spread around, that Herm can't land top FAs.

He did.

Ty Law said he respected Herm and wanted to play with him.

Maybe it would be easier if you would just let go of your hatred for the Head Coach of the New York Jets for a minute and said that he did something he has lambasted here for not being able to do.

Wooosaaaaa..
