PFSIKH
Who is going to win the AFC East? Please tell me oh enlightened one. Seriously, being a month away from real games and despite all the losses the Patriots suffered, is it enough to close the gap? No.
The Gun Of Bavaria
I'll make everyone a bet: If the Jets make the Super Bowl most of you can stay with me for free. If they don't make it then the people who were originally coming send me $250 cash. Takers?

Tx, for your own well-being, if you're trying to make an argument, the last source you should use is "national magazines."

stormshadow19
Booking tickets for Detroit? You're better off in Royal Oak! Or Sterling Heights. Or... actually, there's a Hilton in Detroit, right by Greektown, but that's gotta be sold out. Might be a crack house or two that might have spots open... But the fans here are whack for thinking the Jets have a chance at the Superbowl. Oh, okay.
Garb
I just find Jets fans delusional and arrogant - temper the enthusiasm guys, really. It's sort of silly. The season starts in a month. My God, it's like listening to crack addicts that live in an abandoned building in the Bronx who tell folks they actually live in the Trump Towers and work as the president of some hedge fund. Max, The Pats have actually gotten better offensively. Seriously. I know you think Weiss' loss is big blow - it won't be. You'll see. Corey Dillon will be better than last year. The plethora of recievers the Pats have in camp - and the competition it begets - will only make the recievers we retain even better. The Pats defense has taken a step back. The step's name is Tedy Bruschi. ST - well, BB has certainly made a point of improving this unit in the off-season. We shall see if it translates onto the field. That's a huge part of sports and will not change simply because 4 or 5 PATS fans are compelled to live on not one, but two Jets boards pulling the same ole tired responses from their archives. Shadetree
The JETS defense is much improved, but a Super Bowl defense? I dont think so. I'll beleive it when I see it, and last year......I didn't see it. If Law and # 94 are suited up in week one we could be very impressive. Right now, the "D" has too many question marks on top of the fact that they were over rated(improved, but overrated) last year to write anything in stone. Talk to me in WEEK 4. Therefore, either deal with it, ignore it, or fight back. The Patriots fans on this board probably will not be going away any time soon.
PFSIKH
The Jets were a few inches from the Championship game. They have improved on: Offense Defense Special Teams Coaching Staff The Patriots were a great team. They have gotten worse on Offense and Defense. But the fans here are whack for thinking the Jets have a chance at the Superbowl. Oh, okay. Offense - You got a better OC that has a game plan that is predicated on deep passes. Even under the best conditions, Chad is not suited to a deep passing attack. Now he is recovering from surgery on his shoulder. Defense - Who has replaced Ferguson? There are potential replacements there, but no one you can say without a shadow of a doubt is able to replace him yet. You can sign Ty, Deoin and Ronnie Lott, but if your Run D returns to 2003 form, it will not matter. Special Teams - Again, Nugent is potentially your kicker for the next 10-15 years, but he still has not kicked yet and there are alot of examples in the past of kickers, high draft picks, that were busts or average at best. Jets are a good team, no doubt. However, they were also a few inches from being bounced in the wildcard round as another drafted rookie kicker shanked a makeable FG. Plus, the Jets have yet to prroven they can beat the teams that will be there in the end.

shawn306
Here is the bottom line on the 2005 Jets 1) Chad: How well he adapts to the new system and is the should healthy 2) J.Abe: Needs to get into camp ASAP !!!! No Abraham no Ferguson means no playoffs. Hate him all you want but if the Jets are to seriously make a Super Bowl run he NEEDS to be there. 3) #1 and #2 must stay healthy for 16 games. You hate putting it all on two guys but in the Jets case it's the truth. If 1,2 and 3 work out for the Jets I expect them to be playing in late January and possibly very early Feburary. PFSIKH
We faced that problem last season along with our QB being out. Can the Pats or any team say the same? Good point. The Patriots have shown the ability over the past two seasons to overcome injuries (outside of Brady). That is another thing altogether. Considering over the last two years, Richard Seymour, Ty Law, Mike Vrabel, Troy Brown, Tyronne Poole, Ted Washington, Deoin Branch, and David Patten have all missed significant time to injuries and the Patriots are 34-4. There is a reason the Patriots spread the wealth as much as possible.

Gotta love that incredible depth that the Jets have on the OLine. You're absolutely right, Tx. The OL is really what could make or break this team. I actually have more concerns about the OL than I do of Pennington, because at least we have a capable backup in Fiedler. However, we have NO depth behind Fabini, Adrian Jones, and Kevin Mawae. Jonathan Goodwin can fill in at G if Kendall gets hurt, though not nearly enough to make that gaping hole look filled.

At 1 point last season were without both Pete Kendall and Jonathan Goodwin and we did not miss a beat. Goodwin is so underrated, he has the skills to start. Mawae is a beast, he'll play with a broken leg if he had too. Ethan Brooks adds some veteran OT depth and Cavka has likely improved since last season adding more muscle. Ya know the patsy fans are reaching when they are talking about what ifs about our oline depth if our entire interior line goes down yada yada yada...
