Essentially, this is what the Offseason came down to

In my opinion:

The Jets were able to snare Ty Law, because they had one bullet left in their chamber. That bullet, was left there because Jason Ferguson did not re-sign with the Jets.

The other off season moves, were basically scripted as the season ended last year:

-The Jets were never going to make the commitment to re-sign McKenzie-They had Jones figured in all along.

-Lamont was going to be given a fair offer, but not a knock him over offer- Suitable replacement with Blaylock.

I really think that the Jets did want to keep Ferguson. If that signing was made, I don't think that they would have had the ammo to do this Law deal now. It just would not make as much sense financially.

So all in all it comes down to this proposition for me:

-Do I take a Robertson aided Ferguson, OR

-A 3 headed DT rotation with rehabilitating TY Law at CB as an upgrade to Donnie Abraham?

To me, the CB can be the more impacting player on a whole defensive scheme. The risk is there, certainly. This rotation at DT is not a given, but can only be helped by having Robertson beside it. Ty does not come without question marks, at this point either, obviously.

It is interesting how a team can be put together. Quite possibly, the Tuna may have done us a favor by swooping in and nabbing Jason Ferguson. Because without that, I don't think the Jets would be so emboldened.

Only time will tell.

I think the Jets addressed about all their needs

for the first time in a long time!! The only thing

I would have liked was Pat Williams instead

of waiting to long kissing Fergy's butt!! Lamont

HAD to go..No way could you tie up that much money

in 1 position! He was toast as soon as they redid

Martins Contract in 02!That's why he should have

been showcased to get back a draft choice! I like

McGill but until the real Games start who knows how

he'll do..Punter and Kicker were addressed..And with

Law(If he's still the same player)things are looking

good for 05!! =D>

That's the main concern I still have. I would really, really, really like to see the Jets pick up some veteran insurance at tackle.

Great post though Scott.

The Jets off-season was excellent, IMO. The biggest improvement was Hackett leaving and Dinger coming in; the biggest loss was Lamont, but as savage pointed out, there was no way to bring him back anyway. IMO, the final two pieces will be a vet RT (as Lady Jet proposed) and getting another QB to replace the god-awful Bollinger at #3. The return of Quincy, perhaps? Vinny?
