Big bucks, no security for coordinators on both ends

"They love me so far," Heimerdinger says. "I haven't called a play yet."

Heimerdinger knows that feeling is subject to rapid change for all offensive and defensive coordinators whose soaring salaries and bidding wars for their services are accompanied by high expectations and little job security.

While the offseason was relatively tranquil for head coaches, with only San Francisco, Miami and Cleveland making changes, just one notch down on NFL organizational charts came 19 changes in offensive and defensive coordinators. This second year in a row of widespread migration means 39 of the NFL's 62 coordinators
