They get Gates to come in for 380,000 and extend his contract anyway...even though he missed his deadline to report to camp? Why on earth would they wait till today to give this kid his money? What's the deal with the ultimatum? what's the deal with suspending him for 3 games because he ddidn't make it to practice on sunday if you were going to cave on tuesday? Seriouly? Seriouly? What purpose did it serve? They gave the ultimatum to get him into camp. Maybe they felt that there was no chance of getting him signed so that was their only choice. The contract breakdown starts at $380,000 for the first season, therefore, they're not paying any more this season than they would have otherwise. The only difference is they have him locked up now at a significantly lower rate than if he were to have another season like last year. Idiots I tell ya. They already suspended the guy because he didn't show up for camp. Are they supposed to say "just kidding" so future holdouts won't take them seriously?
