Green Jets & Ham
NEWSDAY Rookie to start at safety: Though Edwards wouldn't commit to a decision, it appears all but certain that the Jets will enter the season with a rookie starting at safety. Last year, it was Erik Coleman. This year, barring a last-minute change of heart in the personnel meetings, Coleman will be joined in the defensive backfield by fourth-round pick Kerry Rhodes. Asked if Oliver Celestin starting at strong safety in preseason was significant, Edwards said, "Not really." It was Rhodes' job to lose, and with three preseason interceptions, he didn't lose it. TomShane
That is awesome news. Imagine, YOUNG TALENT on the JETS!!! Who woulda thunk it?
Maxman
Rhodes seems to be in the right place. Consistently. Starting him is a no brainer. They lose a little against the run. But what they gain in pass defense is well worth it. Anyone remember Eric McMillan's rookie year? He picked off everything. This kid reminds me of that. Although I hope he has a better career overall.
Barton
My guess is that Celestin and Rhodes will rotate very frequently. I liked what I have seen from Celestin. Some said (I was 1 of them) that coverage was his weakest point, but he has been making alot of plays in coverage this preseason. Rhodes hasnt even started against 1st teamers (I believe correct me if I am wrong). I liked Rhodes alot, but Celestin outplayed him in preseason, jmo. 124
Very smart move by Herm and Hendu and the staff to start Rhodes. Rhodes is a ball hawk and you can't get enough of those (I.E. Ed Reed). Gotta love our young secondary with our All-Pro 31 year old corner.

MasonJet
Typical Hermophiles..Good player Hermie drafted him..Bad player it's all TB's Fault!! Pathetic! Did we say that? Anyway the only real mistake they have made is Bryan Thomas, and maybe Jon McGraw, and you can place blame on both of their shoulders I'm sure. The point is these guys have done a terrific job of drafting since they've been here. You can't deny that.

I guess we're just going to have find out won't we?
