Maxman
New York Jets and American Red Cross Call On Fans to Give Donations Sunday for Gulf Coast Relief Effort New York City - Fans are encouraged to give monetary donations as they enter the stadium this Sunday at the Meadowlands, prior to the New York Jets' home opener against the Miami Dolphins at 4:15 p.m. These contributions will benefit the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund in the Gulf Coast region. The Jets have asked 30 Red Cross volunteers from the Bergen-Hudson Red Cross Chapter to participate in this very important collaboration. "With nearly 500 shelters open throughout the country, and thousands of evacuees needing immediate Red Cross assistance, this event will help tremendously," stated Vernon Reed, CEO of the Chapter. "We are truly grateful for the Jets reaching out to us." Red Cross volunteers will be located at the four gates and the South Tower to collect the donations. The American Red Cross is a humanitarian organization that is volunteer driven and helps people prepare, prevent and respond to emergencies.
