4HCrew
Ok I have been a huge basher of J Abe but since the Jets already threw money away with Chad and Fabini why not cave in and give one of their most talented players his cash. He has been playing is a$$ off even on running plays. Feel free to rip me all you want but at least this guy has talent and is a MAJOR cog on the defense. As for injury concerns that is fine...the same concerns exist with Chad but no one still had a problem giving him the big deal
bman
how about we give Chad's money to Abe and then find a real QB!
Preston Howley III
John Abraham is on pace for a monster season. If he keeps it up, for 16 games, he's due a windfall. Unfortunately for John, the Jets are in for a losing season. When Chad got the big windfall, the Jets won the division. Big difference. Timing is everything. Bugg
Abraham deserves a big contract. But given that we will need a new feature abck and QB starting in 2006, he isn't getting top long-term money here. It comes down to taking something a little better than Ellis got or moving on. mbn007
you can find good rb's in the draft.. we need a franchise qb more than a rb We don't need a franchise Q/B. We need a healthy one, who can throw downfield with some authority.
Preston Howley III
Abraham is looking better than he ever has, and it's no coincidence that he's out on the field with Ellis, Robertson and Bryan Thomas. It's about time somebody figured out a way to get that much speed and power on the field at one time for a one play. Thanks Donnie.
Bugg
I know for some reason the HC and GM are in love with James Reed, and he had a great play yesterday. But the 1st rounder DL with Thomas at DT was very effective on passing downs.

faba
Abe is the one guy on defense that is a playmaker besides Vilma. He is also a one man pass rush coming off the corner. That has never been in doubt- -he seems to be playing the run better this year too in running down guys from behind.

Barton
Are you kidding me??!!? The guy plays 3 straight games without getting injured and you want to throw a boatload of money at him. If the guy stays healthy, fine, ok. Right now, the last thing we need to do is give a big longterm contract to another injury prone player! He plays like a monster at the start of every year and at the end of every year is injured. Why don't we wait see if he is still playing in the last game before we get out the checkbooks. If he is, I agree, show him the money. BZ

But the Jets throw a "boatload" of money at a mediocre QB who never played a full season. What's the difference?

raffyD
"I knew what they were about to do. I just didn't think they would go that quick,'' Leftwich said. "I've never been hit that quick. He had to be [offsides]. It's not humanly possible to do that.'' -B. Leftwich Was Abe offsides, I thought he was but the timing could have been that good. Give him the money, he's one of the best in the league and better to have him on our team than on anyone else's.

But I agree with you, you just can't spend that kind of coin on a player who is always injured. Abraham was great out there, but I'm not sure, I'll have to watch the 4th quarter again, but I dont remember any pass rush from him on 3rd down in some very crucial spots. Donnie need to stop pussing around on 3rd down defense, we got killed yesterday on 3rd down defense several times. We need to send a safety or linebacker, or both on occasion here and there. I saw the replay that night and while it wasn't called, he was very very very close to being offsides, heartbeats off. But, that is the best way to play. TomShane
You cannot sign Abe at all. I hate the guy, but someone is going to give him major coin, and Chad and Curtis have already been given the Jets coin. Woody Johnson must weep when he signs these paychecks.
