Blessing in disguise?

Everyone here is talking trade which doesn't make sense to me.

The way I see it our hopes of winning a superbowl are over this year and the best thing that could possibly happen to us this year is to finish in last place getting the #1 pick in the Draft.

Matt Leinart is going to be the most sought after QB in over 10 years. The guy is better than Carson Palmer ever was in college and has all the tools.

Losing Pennington and Fiedler may be our ticket to getting Leinart who could be the next best thing since Joe Montana.

I hate to give up on the season but lets be realistic here with no QB our team looks exactly like the Chicago bears....

It makes me sad to think this but Penningtons career is likely over. Many may attack him for not being a great football player but the one reason I have always liked the guy is he truely is a good dude. Hate to see this happen to a guy who really is what you want a QB to represent as far as the face of your franchise.

My best wishes go out to him and his recovery and whatever is in his future.

I'd rather have Philip Rivers than Matt Leinart.

No way can this team afford the contract of the #1 overall pick AND resign John Abraham.

I wouldnt be surprised to see some big cuts next year or contract restructures. Curtis Martin should be #1 on that list, his contract is just too much right now.

For all those people who think Pennington lack zips on his fastball, have any of them put a Juggs gun up to one of Leinhart's throws? Dude is playing in a stacked offense at USC, but wouldn't be in the upper half of the league as far as arm strength. How about the guts (or lack thereof) of a guy who pass up millions to stay in school another year to hone his ballroom dancing skills?

I agree on 1 part.

I dont think Leinart has a very stong arm either. Probably about NFL average, maybe alitte better.

Obviously his arm right now is stronger then Penningtons ever will be, from this point on. And I dont think he'll be a better QB than Carson Palmer will.

Now Philip Rivers doesnt have a very strong arm either, but I like his overall game better.

Its been awhile since we've seen something from Rivers.

Rivers has a gross delivery and didn't look good in the pre-season... Personally I never thought much of the guy.

I don't see why people don't like Leinart. Yeah hes on a good team there but he's smart and he pretty much toys with college defenses.

I do not believe in any blessings when a complete season is wasted and your "core" players get a year older. Another year gone and the O Line gets older..before you know it there is a ton of rebuilding needed. The NFL is about now and I am tired of the next year thinking with the Jets. But as always that is what we have to do
