Jets | Just Lose Out on Meeting with Mauck

Tue, 27 Sep 2005 15:07:12 -0700

Jim Wyatt and Paul Kuharsky, of the Tennessean, report according to Mark Rodgers, the agent for Tennessee Titans QB Matt Mauck, his client was at the airport and five minutes away from checking in for a flight to New York to visit the Jets when Titans general manager Floyd Reese called and said the club wants to retain the practice squad player. "We are going to keep Matt,'' Reese said. "We like him well enough that we want to keep him and bring him along." The Jets were interested in Mauck after injuries decimated their quarterback position in Week 3. The Titans plan to promote Mauck to their active roster sometime this week.

True. Or the Titans do not want to help the Jets because they:

A) Stole thier coordinator.

and

B) Won't pay what the Titans want for Volek.

Its possible, but all Im saying is that if, for example, Chicago has a rash of WR injuries and tries to sign Harry Williams off the Jets PS, the Jets would probably promote him to the active roster, even though they have no beef with Chicago. Sometimes its just about protecting assets. As that famous Italian guy would say, its business, never personal.

They've got Norm Chow now. They may not give a crap about Dinger.

As for Volek, I dont buy that they're shopping him EVER, not with Steve McInjury as the starter.
