Jets Babe
The play-calling has been atrocious so far on offense. Yesterday, all game, I was like WTF.
cmcm750203
Am I the only one who things the 2nd down and 6 call on the final drive in the red zone when Sanchez tried to scramble and barely got back to the line of scrimmage was F*ING HORRIBLE! I mean you have 3 downs to run the ball 6 for the first down - 12 for the game winner, you have 2 timeouts left with plenty of time (and Miami calling TOs to give them time to get the ball back) and on 2nd and 6 you call a passing play? I dunno, if you think I'm wrong tell me, but if I'm the OC I'm running the ball. At worst you pick up a few yards and give yourself a more manageable 3rd or 4th! I mean I thought we were going to be a tough running/defense team? Putting the ball in the hands of your rookie QB instead of playing smashmouth football with your stud O-Line and your pro-bowl running back? Oh...and I completely agree with whoever said it earlier, the formations are a dead giveaway of the play calls! i was screaming the same thing...i said it before they ran the play..you better run this ball and get the first down. sure enough 3 pass plays in a row...moron. jason423
I'm convinced this bozo rather lose a game going against conventional wisdom rather than win using high percentage plays. Convinced. There is just no rhyme or reason to his play calling. Its baseless and nonsensical. He wants to win games so that people can say, "wow can you believe he made those calls instead of going with the high percentage play".] I hate him more and more with each passing momement... I really thought that we turned a corner with him last week. Even when we were not scoring points early against Miami I thought it was smart calling that would lead to something in the end. Then those last 4 playcalls just blew my mind. There was just no reason to do what he did on 3rd down. None. Forget even the game situation and how you can probably run the ball to get an easy 4th down attempt at worst. He is taking a kid whose strength is not the short passing game and sticking him in shotgun, with no threat of run, on a short field that oes against every strength the QB has right now. This was the same garbage that he pulled when they had to settle for a field goal early on when Sanchez should have gotten intercepted for a 99 yard pick 6. Sanchez is a rookie that does not have that kind of command of the game to be in shotgun from 8 yards out trying to find guys in the end zone. You want to roll him out from under center, fine, but the odds are stacked against him in the spot he put him in. Sanchez needs a back behind him to set up the PA or at least limit the amount of guys they can drop in coverage or blitz. The worst thing is we are stuck with him as our OC. Rex is not going to fire him. Unless he gets a head coaching job(and I cant see how that happens) I just think we are stuck. I just hope Sanchez is the goods and can overcome it. bitonti
the offense did more than enough to win the game yesterday i don't see the thinking that a better OC would get that Jets team, yesterday, to a different result. the Jets gave up 21 hard luck points to ST and Shonn Greene getting stripped. how does firing the OC change that? Its not just yesterday. In all honesty other than those last 4 plays there wasn't much bad that went on with the offense. I just think its a long term problem. The QB performances in this offense are horrible. There is no way around it. Favre was far better before and after it. Pennington was far better before and after it. Clemens was just dreadful. I just dont want to see it bring Sanchez down. Maybe it wont and because he is brought up in it he will shine. I just know the offensive design puts alot more pressure on Sanchez, both mentally and physically, than Matt Ryan and Joe Flacco had on them last season. I hate sitting in the stands and hearing people call for Sanchez to be benched when the Jets offense does not do its best to protect him and calling plays that see him just get murdered by the defense. Our pass protection leaves something to be desired out there and this is three years running. I think they have been below average scoring against the opposition in 3 of the 4 years he has been here. Bit - this is the reason. Would a different OC have changed the outcome. Maybe. The last stand play calling was pathetic. 2nd and 6 in the shotgun no threat to run. Stupid. Plain stupid. We could have still picked up a first or at least got us to short yardage with 2 downs to go. And this is consistent. QB's clearly dont thrive in his systems and the running game didnt improve til Callahan came around. I've been calling for his head since 07. He's just really bad. However, the last thing you do is fire him in the middle of the season. Especially with a rookie QB. That is just dumb...but he should not be here next season and there really shouldnt be a thought involved. I was furious that Rex retained him. bitonti
everyone says they should have run... unless they get stopped, then they should have passed it's 2nd guessing and like I said the ST gave up 2TD shonn greene gave up another TD you don't win divisional games in the NFL when you give away 21 cheap points... you could have the greatest OC in history that game is still probably a loss

Brees had to go to another team and then exploded overnight. You're basically saying this kid has to be at least twice as good as Brees or something. QB's dont thrive in his system, you saw it in Chad, Kellen, Favre and now Sanchez. Thats a problem. Schotty didnt lose us the game yesterday, but he definitely didnt help us win. But this isnt about yesterday. This is about a body of work that is unimpressive to say the least. He doesnt learn from his mistakes. I hate that in a coach and I'm affraid he over thinks it 95% of the time and I dont see him changing any time soon. And again, you dont fire him now, but you better start thinking about a replacement cuz he sucks.

I think they have been below average scoring against the opposition in 3 of the 4 years he has been here. Amen. Where has a Schottenheimer passing offense looked even almost acceptable: 1.) A healthy Chad against 2nd/3rd rate defenses. 2.) A healthy Favre 3.) Sanchez against 2nd/3rd rate defenses. Our line is not as good as it's credentials, but BS isn't close to a grasp on how to get receivers open while still offering additional blocking protection. He's a bum that will keep this team from growing an offense. The crime is we won't get rid of the fraud as there's no way to hang him on speculation. Coupled with our defense and league leading run game will win us enough games to keep him away from the firing squad.

New York Mick
I have to agree, it's time for a new OC. Schotty just can't get it done. We have a Pro Bowl FB that isn't used enough when we need short yardage, he'd rather throw it even though we're doing good running. Richardson is a great ****ing blocker so there's no reason not to have him on the field. I'm done with him sign me up. The God Fin fans were calling our plays before the snap for ****sake. Ill just throw one stat out there and its interceptions per attempt. Chad as a Dolphin and as a Jet in 2004 threw about 35% less picks than the defenses he faced would normally intercept. As a Jet he was about 3.5% more INTs/att. Favre was at 7% below as a Packer and was 56% below as a Viking through the Steeler game. As a Jet he was 72% above. Clemens was worse than Tarvaris Jackson(though not by much) and Brodie Croyle. Sanchez before yesterday was around 85% above though alot was on the Bills game. Maybe he is at 40% now. Ryan and Flacco were both about 10% below last year. These are all valid comparisons, IMO. Comparable situations. Comparable players. It has been, thus far, a low reward high turnover system. I'm sure there are plenty of guys worse out there, but this is not a strong system by any measurable I can think of.

Jbro22
Well he was drafted at #9 overall. That does seem a tad high for a kick returner, no? Well, he's made game changing plays in each of his games against the Jets this year. Depends how you want to look at it. You know if we were in that situation and Ginn played a big role in 2 victories against the Patriots we'd be happy with him too.
RSJ
Just to show everyone how bad Schitty is. Midget Love 20
Only if he was drafted as strictly a Kick Returner. As a WR, he's a bust. +100. Dolphinheaven.com even said he should switch his position to CB because he's better at swatting balls than catching. You don't draft kick returners with the #9 spot, you draft a WR who could help in the kicking game and win the field position battles. Ginn sucks, congrats to him on his 3 TDs against the Jets this year, because he won't sniff 3 more TDs for the rest of the year

You are absolutely the worst draft analyst I've ever heard of. You're aware that Ginn was benched by the Fins before yesterdays game, right? Have you even watched a single game he's played in except the Jets game? He's ****ing terrible. One long catch against Revis doesn't make up for years of suck.
