Edge of Darkness is a good old fashioned thriller.
Cops, government conspiracy, cover-ups, hit men, evil rich guys etc etc.
The reviews have been iffy, but I think this movie hit exactly what it wanted. A formula mainstream flick that will satisfy you for two hours and also portray a good old fashioned cop and robbers yarn. The robbers being more corporate in tone here.
Basic premise is in 1st 10 minutes Gibson, a Boston cop, sees his daughter gunned down in front of him. She is obviously into something bad and her job in Government research is suspicious. Gibson then starts the investigation and along the way meets up with the Hit Man or Cleaner who has been assigned to look into the case by the 'bad guys'.
Very well done and a nice return for ThugTurd Mel to the bigscreen.
Thanks to Joesph (124) for telling me to see this regardless of what was being said. Thanks Joe.

I agree. I saw this the other day. Despite some pretty obvious logic-based flaws, it was pretty good because of Mel Gibson. I read a review somewhere that said, basically, that if it was Harrison Ford instead of Mel this movie wouldn't be anywhere near as decent as it is. Still, hard to get past some of the holes in the plot.

Btw SJ, I watched "The Hurt Locker" all the way through last night. What an amazing film. A little lacking in terms of narrative continuity (more like a series of highly-charged vignettes), but goddamn those vignettes are ridiculously powerful. I actually found myself sitting on the edge of my seat. When's the last time a movie made your heart race?

yes it was that kind of flick.

'waltz with bashir' was like that also, but in a different , animation, way.

Mel Gibson is an anti-Semitic pig, and the next time I ever watch something he's involved with, I'll be either be really bored or pissing on his grave. He's a self-glorified blowhard.

Told you you'd like it dude. At least 3. I'd give it 3.5.

Mel Gibson rules, in everything! Outside the movies, in life, as well!

He French kisses the Hitler Youth Pope in his spare time. It's very touching.

Mel Gibson is clinically insane. Naturally, this lends itself to making him a terrific actor.

sheesh, I'm a doosh.

I laugh when people dont see movies cause a actor/actress has differing political views or is a jerk in real life.

If you applied same logic to the Producers of these films (the ones who make the HUGE money from the film) you would never see a movie.
Most of these people are horrid in real life.

They filmed this in my neck of the woods: Northampton, MA. A mate of mine worked on the movie.

Can you guys shed any light on what it was like seeing it with someone and also seeing it alone.

Tom you go first by letting us know how it was alone. Thanks. :winking0001:

Im sorry this movie was gawd awful. Mel Gibson is a relic and should retire back to Australia. Seriously the movie was not logical at all.
So he goes around killing stone cold and doesn't cry even when holding his daughters body. Too many stupidities wrapped with cliche to make it look a bit intelligent

3 Stars is generous SJ. I usually ( well recently) started seeing movies I wouldnt normally see because you write reviews for them. This one was a lil lame though.
