there is a clause in david carrs contract that states, if he gets sacked a certain amount of times, or if he throws too many ints in a certain amount of time, david carr can void his contract and become a free agent. we'll guess what? He has been sacked too the contracts limit, he can void his contract at the end of the season. I think the jets should go after David carr, he has a hell of an arm, he just had no protection. After that, pick up dbrickshaw to help the aging line.

The thing that would worry me about Carr is the beating he has taken with the Texans- both physically and mentally it has to have some effect on him

I would call it "Kenny O'Brien Syndrome". The guy may very well be gunshy and messed up in the head with the beating and lack of veteran support he's gotten the past few years.

He'd be the ultimate reclamation project if Dinger is up to the challenge though.

Thats a great contract clause though - "if you can't protect me and I get beat up and sacked X times, I have the right to walk"

I remember Rob Johnson early in his career and people would say that he was talented but was in an offense where he got sacked a lot. So the Bills picked him up and paid handsomely and you know what? He got sacked a lot with the Bills. Some QB's are just not quick thinkers and never develop the ability to analyze a play and get rid of the ball. You see highlights of Carr and see "jail breaks" to the QB. But, those are caused because defensive coordinators know that he will go down like Monica Lewinsky if they blitz him. If he would hit a couple of hot reads, the blitzing stops. So I would have to classify myself as "I'll believe it when I see it" concerning Carr.

I was talking to a certain much hated Patriots fan around here over the phone and he brought this up to me. I think it makes a lot of sense and might be a hell of a move for the Jets. I think that Carr is a QB who can be a playmaker but has had jack squat to work with while in Houston. Granted we need to retool the OL, but that will be the case for ANY QB that we bring in. I think it makes a lot of sense.

it would be great to bring in carr next year but my guess is that he will be too expensive.

I agree. Carr has great potenial and with a better OL, he can be a pretty good QB.

And this from a guy that has been adamant that PennyBoyWonder is a better QB then Brady.

lag, think you have an ounce of credibility when it comes to discussing NFL QB's?

Tx is right on the money here.

By the way, what does showing a picture of Carr getting sacked have much to do with how effective a QB he is? Sure, he does have a problem getting rid of it quickly enough, and sure, he won't get the protection he needs here unless we make some moves.

But he's better than what we have, makes more sense for our system, and may not be as expensive as many might believe. After all, how many teams will give him a look for a STARTING JOB after the debacle his team is currently experiencing?

Huh? When did I say that...3 years ago? David Carr will never amount to anything. Nice to know you don't think I have any credibility. I'll try not to lose sleep over it.

I hate to say it, but I think Carr may be ruined by his Houston experience. You ever see a dog that's been kicked in the face? It never looks at feet the same way again. Carr has that look in his eye, like he expectes to get sacked on every play. I don't know if you can fix that. I love Carr and think he has/had all the potential in the world, but the guy has just had his brains beaten in so much he might be gun-shy for the rest of his life.

There might have been hope if he had a year or 2 to sit and learn. Not only did he have pressures of being young and inexperienced but had the to start for a reborn franchise. It may not have been a fair deal for him but that's the hand he was dealt.
