Matt39
Further proof that rushing for 1,000 yards in a season is more of a measure of consistency that a remarkable feat: Curtis Martin has rushed for 461 yards in seven games and needs to average just 59.9 yards per game in the Jets' remaining nine games to become the first back in history to rush for 1,000 yards in each of his first 11 seasons. Martin's rushing games this season: 57 yards, 72,67,30,59,148 and 28. Unfortunately Cedric Houston fans. He will not see the field in 05.

Stonehands
doing it once, not remarkable. doing it 10 or 11 years in a row-- truly remarkable. Doing it behind our line as it is currently configured - Priceless!
dickkotite
i dont know what matt is trying to say.... its a great acomplishment. no way to pooh pooh it. you try it. either way, curtis will still end up with 1100 yards on the season even with a crap line. jet fans are spoiled rotten with him, other fans would drool for that type of consistency. sure hes old and the end is near but give the man credit
Smizzy
Just further proof 1,000 yds means nothing in the nfl anymore. If Curtis is knocking on 1k's door after the sh*tty season he has had....Im no longer impressed. Nothing like personal achievments!!!
GimmeShelter
DK is correct in that it is a accomplishment even if only due to longevity on Martin's part. The biggest knock on using 1,000 yards as a measuring stick is that it was really intended for when the NFL played only a 12 or 14 game schedule. Once the league went to 16 games seasons 1,000 yards out of a back is nice but nothing spectacular.
