....have put yet another two on injured reserve. Randall Gay and our center, Dan Koppen.

So, how many layers of Visa protection do we have left? The fraud monitoring guy? Can Pepsi Machine play DB?

If we lose any more metaphors, I'm canceling my Visa account! (stole that line).

How come both teams have been decimated by injuries but one team is 5-4 and leading the AFCE and the other team is 2-7 and in dead last place.

What's the difference?

You still have your QB.

Tx just put a jynx on Brady. Next on IR for the pats tom gaydy.

the difference is that you start Tom Brady arguably the best player in the league, we peddle out QB slop.

So out of all 53 guy on a roster the QB is really that important? The Jets haven't lost jack on defense while the pats have been decimated up and down thier roster.

Yep just ask anyone here. That's why the Ravens won the Super Bowl with Trent Dilfer and the Bucs with Brad Johnson....oh wait......

Horrible comparison....Brad Johnson was great that year. 22 TDS to 6 INTs. Just because that Bucs defense was awesome people assume that the offense went along for the ride. 22 TDs to 6 INTs is awesome weather people want to open their eyes and realize it or not. Oh, and not to mention a 62% completion percentage.

Dilfer on the other hand had 12 TDS to 11 INTs. He managed games while the defense got the wins.

Any Pats or Jets fan who thinks NE would have a winning record without Brady is kidding themselves.

And yes, the QB is the most important position on any team.

QB is not the most important position on the team. The game is won upfront in the trenches. That is the reason the pats can field guys off the street in thier secondary and still be effective. Anyone can bump a WR and play the flats if the defensive front is getting preasure. Just as anyone (see Sam Gado) can come from the practice squad and run through wide open holes. The Jets are and have been getting jacked up on the O-line and D-line since week one and have not sustained major injuries there until recently. It is because of a new scheme, preperation and lack of coaching. The Jets would still be a servicable team if they could run the ball and stop the run. Neither of which they could do since the begining of the season.

Correct and the Jets offensive line AND QB's have went down. Those positions are not simply plug and play ala a secondary.

If the line was decent and Fiedler doesn't go down, we are in the mix for the division.

If the Pats didn't have their QB moving the chains and producing drives that keeps the defense off the field occassionaly they'd be much worse then they already are defensively this year which by the way is horrific.

The Pats starting and back up O-Lineman have missed more time than the Jets this year. Therefor the Jets have no excuse for not sustaining a drive. Remember a guy named Ray Lucas? or how about Trent Dilfer, or Doug Williams. QB is not the most important position. That was your point and you are infact wrong.

in a word - YES

the QB touches the ball on every offensive play. Every time there is a completed pass it comes from his hands. He calls the plays in the huddle, more than that he looks in everyone's eyes and let's the team know whether they are gonna win or lose that day. When he is in practice you can look at your QB and determine how good you will be that year. It's a game of inches and confidence is paramount. You can take 10 schleps put them with tom brady and they will be more effective than a team of all-pros with Brooks Bollinger.

More than that - if the left guard or the wide reciever misses an assignment or makes a mistake there's a chance either no one will notice or someone else will pick up the slack - when the QB makes mistakes everyone knows, there is no one to pick up the slack and it can be the death of a team.

a great QB makes everyone around them look great. A bad QB is something even great players cannot overcome.

and for those that bring up Dilfer and Johnson make no mistake these guys were leaders and they were good enough to win. They weren't great but they didn't have to be in the light of the HOF caliber defenses on the other side of the ball. Also it goes without saying these men are on a different level than Street free agent Vinny and Brooks last man standing Bollinger. They were starters. They had talent. These men were game managers that didn't kill their teams with mistakes. That's important. Also they are the exception not the rule. The rule is you need a great QB to win the Super Bowl and he better be a pocket QB not a runner.

QB is by far the most important position on the field, which is why in most draft years the top QB in the draft pool is also the first player taken.
