  1. Pretty terrible after about mid-March since my job relies on sports being a thing, but better over the last month or so. ljr reached out a couple weeks back so I figured I'd check in on the crew again; I missed you guys. What's new with you and the JN crew these days?
  2. Man, I haven't posted on here in forever. How's it going, fellow disgruntled Jets fans?
  3. Somehow, this makes me want to play the game even more:
  4. I used to be in a band with a guy who played harp. He was also our guitarist/singer (and very good at both) so he only filled in with it on certain songs. Which was nice because it helped cover up my sh*tty bass playing. Here's an example of one song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LsaVmynnQ20 In any case, he just ran the harp through his vocal mic, and it sounded fine. But I could imagine filling out the sound through a separate rig if you're a regular player. That makes me wonder: what is the advantage to a "specialized" harp pedal? Couldn't you get pretty much every tone possible out of a guitar pedal?
  5. Prove it. I wanna see a receipt and security camera documentation. Those amps are the sh*t. If you really did buy one, I want to come dry-hump it.
  6. Ah, good times. One of my first memories is of playing Atari at my neighbor's house. Berzerk is one that sticks out in my mind as being a favorite of mini-Bombdirt. I can still beat my kids at just about any video game (Fortnite included, but they don't even play that one. They'd rather dick around on Minecraft or Roblox) and I take pride in that. I always tell my children that daddy will be better than them and all their classmates at every game or sport forever, and they just roll their eyes and say, "Okay whatever dad. By the way the Jets suck." Having daughters is fun emotionally. Also, if anyone feels like messing around on Fortnite my screen name on there is Bombdirt as well. Realistically I'm just an average player but I'm always down to help people with Battle Stars and all that crap.
  7. Aaaaaaah thank you! I knew there was another upcoming major release I was looking forward to playing. Holy crap, how could I forget about Fallout 76? I guess my brain isn't working right in my old age. That's another game that's going to eat up a couple months of my free time. I'd better tell my family and friends that they won't be seeing much of me until spring, unless they want to come visit me on the couch.
  8. Yeah, I don't think I'll be going outside for the next several months. The new Tomb Raider comes out in two weeks, and though I haven't been super-impressed with the feel of the reboot games (if I wanted to play Uncharted, I would just play Uncharted), I am a Lara Croft fanboy and must behave as such. Then in October comes Red Dead Redemption 2. I had a lot of fun with the last one and will definitely be picking up the new installment. Come January I will likely move on to the Resident Evil 2 remake, which looks really cool. Yeah, I'm that douche who plays every Resident Evil title they put out. I love the franchise. I know there are some more upcoming releases that I plan on picking up which I'm forgetting, but those are the big three for me off the top of my head. I'll be coming into this thread to nerd out on each one.
  9. This is what Mass Effect: Andromeda should have looked like. I will definitely check out this game.
  10. I wouldn't mind having those retro consoles; haven't picked one up yet partly because I'm kind of pissed at Nintendo for only making like five of them when they first came out. I would think a company that big and experienced would anticipate demand and actually make enough product to satiate consumers instead of whatever bullsh*t sales strategy that debacle was, but I guess that's why I'm not a Professional Business Guy. But I digress. As far as the Madden thing goes, I'll try a new one out every few years or so but I honestly haven't been wowed by the franchise in quite a while. It just seems like the same crap over and over with slight upgrades in graphics here and there. Maybe I'm just old and jaded but it's not nearly as fun as it used to be and feels stale in just about every aspect.
  11. That's a terrible picture of it, and I can't argue with the dull paint job--next to ivory, the red is probably my least favorite Strat color. Also notice the cool backlight on the Gibsons and the lack thereof on the Fender product. It's rigged! Just sayin'.
  12. Probably similar to it at least. I'm not a Gibson expert (or novice for that matter) but after googling the different model numbers a lot of those ES ones follow the same design and just update it as time goes along. It's basically a Les Paul/hollowbody hybrid, which I think is what made it look so interesting to me. Here's a shot I found of Howe's guitars:
  13. This is how I feel. Call me old school but I'd rather have a single amp in a room full of guitars than a pedal that mimics them all. It's just not the same.* *Translation: I need an excuse to collect as many guitars as possible. Speaking of which, I'm an unrepentant Fender homer (I normally run a Strat through a Fender half-stack as my base setup) but I went to a 311 show last week and saw Nick (their singer) playing a Gibson ES-137. Holy crap is that thing ever beautiful. Sounds amazing as well. Waaaaaaant.
  14. That does look pretty cool. I don't know if it's powerful enough to make me sound like less of a sh*tty player, though. I think I would need a wizard or something for that. In all seriousness though, if I had $1800 in my hand to spend on music stuff, I think I'd just buy another guitar. I could get a pretty nice Martin acoustic or another Strat for that amount of cash.
