Devin Smith made a lot of sense. He was a speedy receiver on a team that didn't have one. The jury is still out and he seems lost. Hopefully a full NFL offseason will get him back up to speed. Cro makes sense too. He's a veteran coming off a solid season who had experience in NY and in Bowles system. It's not like we had a ton of proven guys behind him. He should be cut this offseason and then maybe Milliner (unlikely), Williams (maybe) or McDougle (unlikely) can take his place.

Even just consistent pressure. Yates had too much time to throw the football even when we brought 4+ men. That changes the whole dynamic of our defense.

Mo is a pretty good DL, but not a dominant pass rusher. He's too inconsistent in that area. We need a JJ Watt/Von Miller type.

It goes deeper than that. Fitz has the respect of the locker room and is our best QB. Benching him now is basically putting up the white flag. What message would that send to the locker room for a team that is still technically in the playoff hunt?

I get it. You're an old fan and have suffered much more than I have. You want someone to get that championship ASAP. I understand your frustration. But firing Bowles and saying he sucks is prematured. Yes there are things he can improve on, but they aren't many new head coaches that come in and set the world on fire. What we need is a real QB. That will be the test of Bowles and this regime.

It's too early on Bowles yet. We're all disappointed falling from 4-1 to 5-5, but it's his first season. In recent years there have been coaches that completely turned around their team in one season (I.E. Tony Sparano, Eric Mangini, Mike Smith) and eventually got exposed and coaches that improved gradually (Mike McCarthy, Ron Rivera, potentially Mike Zimmer). We have to see how things play out.

Our D is missing a pass rusher. We don't have that one player that can come out and strike fear into the Qb's eye. We have a strong pass rush and everything else will fall into place. We've been missing one since we traded Abe.
