  1. Yeah I thought that climax of the film where he kills the insurgent sniper in Baghdad on his last day in theater was a little too Hollywood to be true. It's a nice movie and Chris Kyle is a hero who deserves a tribute but it's not a Best Picture caliber film. But then again I don't think any of the films that got nominated were except for Whiplash. If people want to see a war movie that's a tribute to the men and women fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan go see Restrepo. Now that's a movie.
  2. When I was in Iraq there was a legendary sniper called Jooba working for the insurgents in Anbar province (where much of the American Sniper movie takes place). Supposedly nobody was sure if he was real or not if it was a bunch of Sudanese mercenaries working as a team. Is that really true that the whole Jordanian sniper thing was made up for the movie? I wonder how much of that was based on Jooba and whether Chris Kyle in real life had to take on Jooba.
  3. All these marvel movies are the same thing. The only good marvel movies last 10 years were Iron Man, Avengers and Guardians. The rest are CGI and formula.
  4. Tupac was actually originally supposed to play that role. Evidence that Lucas lost his mind before making those movies
  5. Doesn't change the fact that most of these superhero movies aren't entertaining. And I'm a comic books fan.
  6. What I hate most about the superhero movies is how seriously they take themselves. The ant-man trailer makes you think they just made The Bridge on the River Kwai.
  7. Agree with pretty much everything you said though I think EP3 is a good movie, very underrated, but not great. It definitely has its moments especially the beginning with that big battle over Coruscant and you see that shot of the sun twinkling over the planet and it looks beautiful in the beginning and then you see star destroyers and warplanes fighting eachother. Episode II had a couple decent moments. Most notably when Yoda fights Dooku at the end. Phantom Menace was one of the worst movies ever made. Lucas just ran out of ideas and didn't have the balls to make the prequel trilogy more violent and edgy with Anakin starting out as an adult Jedi pupil of Obi Wan instead of making a stupid f*cking kids movie the first movie with that ugly brat.
  8. All super hero movies are getting old.
  9. The Interview sucked. Those gags involving celebrities in the beginning were so lame. Got better once they got to North Korea but too little too late
  10. Not exactly a movie but the preview looks gangster. I like that there are no famous people in this makes it seem more real. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PhmFFtjB2qY
  11. He tried his best. It was a good movie and a nice tribute to a hero. Does it deserve a nomination for Best Picture? No although Cooper deserves a nomination for Best Actor.
  12. Academy voters are a bunch of old fogeys and the show has been unwatchable since Billy Crystal stopped hosting.
  13. It was a nice tribute to the guy. Not much more.
  14. Interstellar had 0 Oscar nominations other than Best Score. Why does anyone watch the Academy Awards anymore?
  15. Yeah it was horrible. Very depressing movie especially seeing Johnny Sack and some other old actors from Sopranos have aged so badly.
