  1. I'm not being snarky, but use your eyes. Tim Tebow was a slug on tape and ran a 4.71. He confirmed what every one already knew about him. Bowers is clearly far more explosive and has much more bend -- watch him getting in and out of his breaks. He's clearly a 4.5 - 4.6 athlete. If Vegas was running odds on his 40 time, I'd venture to say that the over/under would be 4.53 1/2. I wouldn't place money on that line either way, but he's somewhere pretty close to that. Bowers running a 4.55 doesn't help himself in the pre-draft process, so why would he do it? He'd have to run a sub 4.5 to get GMs really excited and I'm not sure that he'd be able to consistently do that.
  2. Peter Warrick was 5’11 190 lbs with 4.58 speed. Brock is 6’3 240 lbs with the same speed. Different story.
  3. Tim Tebow ran a 4.71 and there are people on this board who think Bowers has the same speed. Insanity. Bowers may not be a sub 4.5 guy but I’d bet the farm that he’s closer to 4.5 than 4.6. Sent from my iPhone using JetNation.com mobile app
  4. Eh, you don't need to be a weather man to know which way the wind is blowing. 40 games of college film show elite speed for his size. He's not a track star but he's in the top 10% at his position.
  5. Speed and YAC are core differentiators for Bowers. Goedert was a 4.7 guy whereas Bowers is closer to 4.5.
  6. Kyle Brady he is not. It's also worth noting that nobody in the league averages more passes behind the LOS than Aaron Rodgers. For most of his career, it's been something like 33%. That's what Bowers excels at. It's a match made in heaven.
  7. Bowers' idiot-proofs this offense the same way Breece Hall does. Just get the ball in his hands and get out of the way. Even Hackett can't f*ck that up.
  8. 100%. Bowers isn't replacing Conklin. Any team that drafts Bowers in the top 10 is going to use him as a chess piece. Bowers was lining up in the backfield at Georgia and it wouldn't surprise me if he is used that way in the pros. He'll primarily be in the slot, but you can use like an H-back, TE, or in the back field. The Jets don't currently have a good weapon to keep the chains moving on offense. Garrett Wilson is more of an intermediate/deep threat who is dynamic in the open field. Mike Williams and Breece Hall are home run hitters. Bowers' simplifies the offense because you can design quick-hitters to get him the ball and let him do his thing after the catch. He can do much more, like work down the field, but his versatility and YAC ability is what makes him special. People won't understand that until they see Bowers collecting first downs on plays where Conklin would have been tackled two yards short. Then it'll become crystal clear.
  9. Njoku didn't have any college production. Brock Bowers' freshman year > Njoku's entire collegiate career combined.
  10. Agreed. I also predict that Taliese Fuaga will have fewer rushing yards than Jonathan Brooks.
  11. All this proves is that sample size matters. Pitts' 8 games are great but it's still not enough to justify using a top 10 pick on a TE. Go look at an 8-12 game sample of Chad Pennington in 2002 and you'd think he was going to be Joe Montana. Zooming out provides a clearer picture of the truth. Bowers' injured his foot against Vanderbilt in 2023, which affected his stats during that game. He returned from that injury in just 26 days, and was clearly hobbled by the foot for the rest of the season (see Alabama game). Before the injury, Bowers played three SEC schools: South Carolina: 7/54/0 Auburn: 8/157/1 Kentucky: 7/132/1 But besides that, Bowers' has 40 games of college production, and of those games, I'd estimate that 20+ were elite performances (ie, he caught 5+ passes and/or had 60+ yards and/or had a TD.). Doing that over three years in the SEC is more impressive than any 8 game stretch.
  12. What in the world are you talking about, "to an extent that Bowers' never reached in college." Are you comparing Pitts' collegiate production to Bowers and claiming that Pitts was more dominant?
  13. But he is the best college tight end of all time, and there really isn't anyone close.
  14. If Joe D stays at 10, I think he grabs Bowers if he's on the board. But I think JD's ultimate goal in 2024 is to trade down to grab an OT in round one. His top targets, IMO, are: JC Latham, Troy Fauntanu, and Amarius Mims. In round two, I think he goes WR with his top targets being: Adonai Mitchell, Troy Franklin, Ladd McKonkey, Xavier Leggett, Roman Wilson, Devontez Walker
