  1. Interesting how he weights it with QB at 27%, followed by WR and OL at 11%, then defense with Edge and CB both at 10%. WR is tied for second most valuable position (with TE the second least valuable), and that’s where the Jets have their worst grade. I’m hoping for a solid starting FA WR to be named this week, followed by a WR in the first round.
  2. Yeah, what I’m saying is that a GM with his job on the line is highly unlikely to spend his top ten pick on a low-value position based on some gut feeling that this particular one’s gonna be in the GOAT conversation in his rookie year. Bowers could turn out to be the GOAT but, imho, a guy like JD -who clearly seems to place a premium on positional value- is not going to take a TE at #10. It should be WR or OL, and I suspect it will be.
  3. I expect Atlanta to take their #1 defensive prospect on the board if that’s the way it’s going.
  4. And how can you ensure this? The NFL had one 1000 yard TE last year, only four TEs had more than 900 yards. This is what I’m talking about. You need the TE to be an all-timer as a rookie, while a WR in the same spot is far more likely to hit that 900 yard mark, and be a more valuable player as a result given the discrepancy in pay between TEs and WRs in the league.
  5. If you’re taking Bowers, you’re taking him with the idea that this somewhat undersized TE will quickly become one of the greatest TEs of all time - because if he’s not, he’s a bust. Meanwhile, any WR taken there who can simply be a solid, reliable starter will be a solid pick.
  6. Breece will be a likely franchise tag recipient while Sauce, Wilson, and JJ all have their fifth year options executed.
  7. I don’t think JD would take him anyway, and love the idea of a WR being pushed down as a result.
  8. Scenarios where Bowers goes in the top nine are my favorites.
  9. I’d resign Reed and trust the staff to develop another slot corner.
  10. I’d be most excited about Thomas there, but -again, talking about what I think the team will do- Fatanu would not surprise me. Bowers would.
  11. You’re speaking my language here, but -unfortunately or not- my expectation is that JD will BAP the pick. So does he rate the fourth WR higher than the second or third OT? He might. But if it comes down to the OT or Bowers, imho, positional value will reign victorious and he’ll take the OT.
  12. I expect them to stick and pick. They may use the entire clock trying to find a decent deal but, at the end of the day, I don’t expect JD to get too cute with this draft. I agree that an offensive plamaker (WR, preferably) should be the priority but, with their OL generally spending more time in the mobile tent than on the field, I could easily understand an OT pick as well. I’d be surprised if someone was willing to give up an extra pick to draft a TE at #10. That would be a ballsy move.
  13. I think in that scenario, the Jets wind up taking their BAP. If their BAP is an OT, I’d understand that. I also expect a FA WR addition in the next couple of days. If/when that happens, I think they’ll still be thinking BAP at #10 unless someone comes at them with an over market offer they can’t refuse. So… someone wanting to get ahead of Minnesota for a QB? (although I think Minny will be making a move ahead of us for one). That would be the Raiders at #13 or Seattle (without a second rounder) at #16. I just don’t see a lot of realistic trade back options.
