  1. Don’t know if this has been posted, but I thought it was a great concise take on the lack of leverage the Packers have and it being a watershed moment that will tell about the current leadership the Jets have. https://nypost.com/2023/03/18/jets-have-aaron-rodgers-leverage-in-packers-trade-joe-banner/amp/
  2. Actually, from what I can tell, it was march 14th or 15th when he signed it.
  3. I'm in the second camp as well, due to some sources I have. The media will probably play the angle of the first group though.
  4. Its the optics of what seems to be AR handing Joe D a list and saying get some of these guys and then I'll come over. I don't know if that happened, but it seems that way from the way it is transpiring. I just want to say, myself, I have no problem with any of this, I am on board with AR coming here and pretty much any other support cast the Jets grab towards that goal.
  5. A leader that can't reevaluate or course correct based on evolving situations is not a great leader. He happened to build a pretty strong team on the back of 2 drafts and outside of QB he has built a team that can be a contender probably a year or 2 ahead of schedule. I'm all in on capitalizing on that. The cool thing is even with AR and these possible older vet signings, the team is still very young and should be able to continue the plan of building through the draft while chasing this short term goal of a title. Assuming the trade comp for AR isn't absurd, I can still see us building for the future.
  6. I think it's the optics of the Jets signing them before Rodgers, like they are being made to run around and do his bidding. Had we signed him first and then went and got his guys it would feel totally different, like how the Bucs went and signed a bunch of guys to complement their Brady signing.
  7. OH MAN! I am hopping on a plane to LA at 5am on taco business, with layover I am going to be traveling for 9 and a half hours. Gonna have to splurge for the internet to keep up with this.
  8. There is like a 50 year wait list for their season tix. This means nothing. They can raise prices and start anyone they want, nobody is cancelling their tix.
  9. They wanted to move on from Carr, that is obvious. They botched in that they allowed themselves to be talked into writing a contract that gave Carr the ability to become free on his own terms rather than be traded. I don't know the specifics, but it was a tradeoff the team made so they could get away with giving him another short term contract. Had Carr been under a contract that didn't have the guarantee structured the way it was and timing of it and not given him the no trade clause, they would have found a trading partner for him. Doubtful they would have gotten what Stafford commanded, but would have gotten something not inconsequential for him.
  10. Yup. The original question you were answering, the poster was wondering if the trade could be done pre 6/1 which is the date where GB has a more cap-friendly situation. My answer I guess was more along the lines of the possibility of trading before that date itself and not a “designated trade” of some type. Maybe would have been better to directly quote the poster with the original question.
  11. There are ways around it by AR renegotiating some of his contract if he is agreeable to it. There is also the possibility GB decides the draft pick in 2023 is move valuable than the cap hit and bites the bullet in order to get the pick in this draft. Between what the jets have at 13 this year and what they may have next year, plus a pick a year out valuing as 1 rd back, it’s not a small difference.
  12. I thought all along this trade would go down in June due to the contract structure, but if they can restructure the deal as you say, there is a line of thinking that makes them want to do it now regardless of how flush the talent pool is. There are 2 things they need to consider, the first is if the Jets finish exactly the same next season as this season and end up with a #13 pick in 2024, teams generally value a pick 1 year in the future as a rd later. So dealing now for a 2024 rd1 #13 is valued as a rd2 #13. The second thing is if they believe as most do that Rodgers will propel the Jets next season in which case that pick could be a late 20's pick or later. In that case, they are looking at getting their hands on a 2023 rd1 #13 or a pick next year that values at a rd2 24-32. Also, if the trade is for 2 years of draft picks, that '25 rd1 would fall back 2 rounds. They may just go for it and get the deal done to get that 2023 pick.
  13. I'm guessing those seats will be offered in big blocks to tour operators and group sales for visiting fans. Usually those guys just want big blocks of tix at the cheaper end of the spectrum.
