    • Henry is a great closer.
    • And because he’s Baker Mayfield, there’s his 4th TD pass of the day to put the Bucs up 11.
    • @Sperm EdwardsA true sign of growth is admitting when you're wrong, so I’ll start with that. After digging deeper into the 2006 and 2020 CBAs, especially in relation to the material period clause and contract tolling, my initial argument about Reddick’s situation was off. I had relied on a misinterpretation of the "nearest multiple of one" clause and the impact of playing six games. In reality, that rounding clause applies to contract extensions when a contract is tolled, not to how many games count toward an accrued season. Both the 2006 and 2020 CBAs have similar language about the "material period of time" in Article 8, Section 1(b), and it was never meant to apply in the broad way I initially thought. The six-game rule still holds in most cases unless the team successfully argues that the player missed a material portion of the season. Vincent Jackson could accrue a season after playing six games in 2010 because that was the standard under the 2006 CBA, and it still largely applies today (to the best of my knowledge). The difference for Reddick lies in how the team might challenge it. I believe the inclusion of these clauses in the 2020 CBA was meant to protect teams from players missing most of the season and still gaining an accrued season, but my assumption about the threshold for this (whether it’s six or nine games) is likely misinformed. I appreciate the back and forth and your patience - but I admit that you're correct and I am wrong.
