  1. Happy Birthday JN! Thank you to all the posters and mods and techy types who make this place what it is. Except Thor. Nah, just kidding, even him.

  2. I think we should minimize the impact of concussions in the NFL by having the games played on top of all those soft, cushiony poor people. Call it PoTurf. Two birds, one stone.

  3. that's a fair point, maybe tannys mistake was believing Tebow could get them to 9-7 in that scenario.

  4. You don't know this and I don't even agree. I think the reason he's gone isn't just because the Jets suck. It's because the Jets suck and don't have the cap room to get any better because of contracts you liked, like Sanchez and Harris. Mark playing poorly isn't what got him fired. Mark playing poorly with no other option in sight, and financially locking the team into no other option at the same time in humiliating fashion is what got him fired. I think Woody likes Tannenbaum and with so many bad moves - the Sanchez extension just being the most obvious one - he got fired. If Sanchez sucks while still on his rookie contract, but another QB was brought in here through the draft or FA and took the Jets to 9-7 in a season where they lost Revis and Holmes, I think Tannenbaum's job was pretty safe.

  7. BTW -- beautiful snow on and off throughout the day here. I know most of you guys are from up north so it isn't a big deal, but we don't see this much around here...great day. Friend of mine in Myrtle Beach sent me a picture of the beach covered in snow too...craziness.

  8. November 1971. 1st place San Francisco 49ers in town to play the Jets on a cold and windy day at Shea Stadium. My first "live" Jets game. The game is "blacked out" in the New York market, so few see the game. Rumors fly the day before the game that the Jets may activate Joe Namath, who had been out most of the season when he was hurt in the first pre-season game and required what was thought to be, at the time, season ending knee surgery. My dad, a NYC cop at the time, somehow gets his hands on 2 tickets, knowing that his kid's football hero might actually play for the first time in 2 seasons. The Jets activate Namath just before game time, although he does not start, and is designated the 3rd QB for the game. The Jets fall behind 17-0 in the 3rd quarter, QB Bob Davis gets hurt, and Namath comes in to lead a frantic 4th quarter comeback against the best defense in the league. Unfortunately, the Jets fall short 24-21. I'll never forget sitting in the stands after the game almost a full 1/2 hour after the game was finished, and the stadium was still packed with people. The buzz was unbelievable. I think John Schmitt once said it was the greatest game his Jets team ever played and lost. It is, to this day, the loudest crowd I've ever witnessed for any sporting event... And I was "in the house" for the Rangers Stanley Cup win in '94, a number of the '86 Mets post season wins, and the Jacksonville playoff game in '98. I'll never forget it, or the fact that my Dad did everything he could to get me in the stadium that day.

  11. I don't even know what to say, lol....too damn funny. I do obsess over details here, lots of pride and I agree about the lack of sleep. There has been a shortage of sleep over the last 8 years no doubt. I am not commenting on any of the other stuff, haha.

  12. wow....8 years already? damn that went quickly. i remember when all that crap went down that made you guys start this site. i had just joined up over there. didn't come over right away because i didn't really know the difference at the time. after being censored and ultimately banned i came over here full-time and realized just how much better this place really was. so much so that when i was contacted and asked to go back i told them to go f themselves. this place truly is, imo, the best place to go to get jets news and talk about the team. thnx for making it happen!!!

  16. Where is the perfect fit for the Jets' defense? We're still talking about a guy who a. is REALLY small for a 3-4 OLB, doesn't have a huge frame, and will struggle to add weight anyway because it's harder to lift with those spine issues and b. is not great against the run and as much as Jets fans have been calling for a pure pass rusher for years stopping the run is prioritized by the Jets' defensive guys right now - Ryan wants to stop the run to set up third and long situations. Plus, are we frankly sure that Ryan is going to be back next year? And if not, are we sure that we're sticking with a 3-4? If we're moving to a 4-3, is Jones really that good of a fit? His production is better than his tape, though his tape isn't bad it's not as good as some make it out to be. And he's not an elite athlete. I don't know where this "if he's healthy he goes 2" talk comes from. Maybe because he's been hyped and productive and the draft is weak at the top this year, but he isn't even almost in Von Miller's league. Good, not great defensive prospect with serious medical issues. I'm not saying you have to pass at 9, but there are other guys I'd be thinking long and hard who have warts that I have an easier time getting over than Jones'. Also, if we're comparing him to injured guys I can't help but think of Da'Quan Bowers a couple years back who was a consensus top of the draft guy early in the process but slipped to the second because of injury concerns. And FWIW, hasn't done much in the NFL.

  19. Watching the monday night miracle with some dolphin fans over my house talking all kinds of junk, they left my house at halftime and went home to bed. Nothing better then calling them at 1am, waking them up and shutting them up.

  20. This is nothing compared to five years from now when he is telling everybody that he knew that Bridgewater was the class of this draft he plays this clip as proof that whoever drafted Geno, Barkley or Glennon was stupid for not taking Bridgewater.
