  1. in times such as these, they may want to rethink their name and change it to something that doesn't have anything to do with a long, slow walk to the electric chair.

  2. Hello everyone from Wales (part of the UK and no, it is NOT in England) I've recently got into the NFL (American Football as we call it here) and given the fact that the first ever live game I'm seeing is in the MetLife in December vs the Dolphins, I've taken the Jets in as my team. Is that the only reason though? No it's not. Part of the reason why I have taken a shine to them is reading these forums and seeing the absolute and utter despair you guys have with them. It's also down to the hapless errors they seem to make and Geno Smith being pretty much identical to one of my football (as in soccer) team's favourite players. I don't know very much about what you guys call football so I'm not going to add my view on things. I did watch the first 3 quarters of the game last night (for me anyway) and thought it was pretty bad though but that's not why I'm here. I'm here to tell you about my local soccer (I hate calling it that but I'll respect my present company) team In the hope that it can offer you some hope in the weeks and months to come. As a bit of background, I support Swansea City. Been watching them home and away for around 15-20 years. The Football League (which we play in despite being only one of a handful of Welsh teams amongst English ones) comprises of 92 teams, across 4 tiered divisions of 20, 24, 24 and 24. There is promotion and relegation between each one so the bottom 3 in the top tier (Premier League) swap places at the end of the season with the top 3 in the second tier (the championship) and so on. Below the bottom divisions are countless other divisions of semi professional leagues. For years, Swansea were rubbish. Scraping around the bottom league, playing to crowds of a few thousand against the very worst teams the Football League has to offer. It's a good laugh but the football is rubbish, the grounds (stadiums) are rubbish and the players are rubbish. Swansea fitted in perfectly. I'm talking about being in substantial debt, crumbling stadium and crook owners. Things came to a head in 2003 when we stayed in the league on the very last day of the season. We spent much of the year being the 92nd ranked team out of 92 but eventually fought our way up the table to reach the dizzy heights of 89th. This was the kick up the ass (arse as we say) that we needed. We had some good players and eventually we moved into the higher league (I.e 45-68 positions) and changed stadiums. We then won promotion again into the second tier (21-44) and we were in dreamland. We didn't think things could get any better but then they did! We won promotion yet again to move to the premier league. To be honest, I'd have said there was more chance of me dating Jennifer Lawrence and Scarlett Johanson at the same time then there ever was of us ever reaching these heights. We've been here for 3 and a bit seasons now and touch wood are looking comfortable and like we belong here (though it feels like we don't still) - we're playing and beating all these huge clubs and it's just incredible. The point I'm making boys and girls is that if little old Swansea City can haul themselves from the depths of hell then so can the Jets. I'll tell you something else too, all the years of crap make it all the more sweeter when you do achieve something- fingers crossed you guys don't have to wait too long!

  11. A clear case of clever Leelou creating a role where someone fakes being unable to play and later shows up as bulletproof Mafia Godfather. Well played Leelou, well played. Not fooling for it though. Vote LK

  12. what a pile. That whole "it takes 4 years to evaluate a draft class" kinda goes out the window when half the class isn't on the team anymore

  13. I don't see what there is here to disagree with. The Jets have a plan and it's a plan that makes sense, but they've executed it horrendously. You absolutely cannot build a team in the NFL when you draft this poorly. It's really that simple.

  15. I know the draft is a crap-shoot, but I'm tired of them taking QB's with huge question marks and expecting them to do great things. Sanchez hardly played in college, and Geno played in a video game offense. He was a guy that was always going to take several years if he ever develops at all. I haven't looked at too many scouting reports on current QB's just yet, but it looks like this would be a good time to start.

  18. Here's what annoys me: people have been saying this about Rex for six years and have been shouted down every year. Now those dicks who were doing the shouting are all about to jump on board this bandwagon because it's easy. Literally everything Cowherd said, I've said from Day One, but now it's en vogue because of confirmation bias.

  19. The 20 mil gets parlayed to next season. Izdk has the Jets sitting pretty for a new HC and QB. Rex would spend every dime on Revis and the Jets would have the # 1 defense on a team unable to score points. Same BS as the last 6 years.

  23. I wouldn't want Rex as HC of the Pats but I will miss him if the Jets get rid of him. He may not be the best HC but he is entertaining.

  27. It's more about the lack of control, the inability to "pick one's own guy" than any dislike for Rex personally. My point was that the Rex stipulation chased away several 'tier 1' GM candidates (despite 'slats' relentless insistence to the contrary, Gamble is included in that group), and is the reason we're stuck with a 2nd tier candidate in Idzik.

  34. We keep hearing about Seattle because Idzik worked there. But we fail to recall is he didn't make the final decision there, he was a bean counter. But remember they didn't let signing matt Flynn stop them from drafting Wilson. This has to be priority #1 and instead the jets are taking guys at positions they already have some if limited depth. And they're reaching. Millner and McDougal were injury prone in college. Why do you go there instead of a QB?

  35. He's basically saying that the Jets are playing stupid football and the reason being is the HC is stupid , fat but you would like to eat some wings with him because he reminds you of the guy down the street and for that reason the NY sports media is giving him a pass and blaming Geno and Idzik, did I summarize it pretty well guys?

  42. Not a shock that you like this, but it's bullsh*t. Nobody is protecting Rex today. Not even me. The simple fact is, the roster is an abomination. Decker goes down and there is nothing. Nothing on a team that brought in 2 FA WRs and 3 draft picks. CB2 was a FAR greater need than RB and backup QB is not a need. A better QB is a need. Is Vick better? Yesterday it was hard to imagine he wasn't and I still wasn't sold with his second half performance. Idzik seems to be the one that wanted Johnson and Johnson has absolutely sucked. Plus he is a dog, so I'm sure that isn't helping in the lockers. There was one time I heard anything coming from Rex about this roster that wasn't typical happy time BS and that was when he was pissed that Idzik let the last of the FA CBs walk. Is there anybody alive that doubts this team would have been better with DRC? I kind of hate DRC and I think it is obvious. You can blame the development of Sanchez on Rex, but the fact is if drafting Sanchez is on Rex the power structure was already super ****ed before he got here.

  43. Everyone wants to trash Idzik, because Idzik is a faceless boring office drone, and is not winning a title in his 2nd year after being forced to keep Rex and many of "Rex's guys". Everyone (seems, IMO) to want to protect Rex Ryan, the REAL problem of this franchise today, because he is a like-able, entertaining clown-car of a quote-dropping car wreck, because he's fun, he sells NY papers and he wins over gullible fans who like rah rah college-style bullsh*t. It's a joke. The problem is not how the team is built the last year and a half or planned going forward, or how we operated last offseason, we operated the right way, signing BAP veterans at positions of need (#2 QB, #1WR, #1RB), and drafting to fill other positions considered to be lesser need (#2 CB, #1 Safety, #3/#4 WR). we didn't overspend, we didn't go all Dan Snyder, we held back some to build for the future while trying to put a competitor on the field now. Had Geno not been a total crock of sh*t, we might just have been ok. Had we not lost BOTH Milliner and the Rookie CB, we might have been ok. It's the clown Head Coach, and the 2nd round pick nobody QB that was best available in a bad lot and forced to play because Rex's OTHER guy was such a colossal failure. It's stunning to me the mass-effort to protect Rex from Rex's record, and to blame anyone and everyone for the problems OTHER than the guy most culpable for them, Rex Ryan.
